The importance of good exclusive content.
I donât think itâs that, more so the competition being extremely strong.
HBO Max, Apple, Prime, Disney + are all major competitors.
Hot take: Thereâs going to be a movie streaming crash because they all wanted the whole cake for themselves and spreading around subscriptions increased piracy. Not to mention the lack of external media sales stuff.
Thatâs what people miss about gamepass, Microsoft may not care much about physical media, but they sure do as hell just like all developers to sell software and DLC even if the incentive is almost zero in X games, because it means safe money in the pocket than dealing with the bad side of physical media (returns and rebates).
Competition is strong of course. Not surprising that all these companies consider gaming as another well where they can try to get the consumers.
I donât think big 4 are going anyway. But they wonât grow much either. They will pivot to gaming as another potential source of subscribers. Apple is ahead of the curve with their Apple TV & Apple Arcade.
Yep, the growth market is all but disappeared for Netflix. No way up but down at this point for them.
It is not just Netflixâs problem though.
The competition has stronger exclusive content. Having Marvel and DC releases is something else.
HBO Max has a good potential. DC properties + Discovery merge. They can also bundle some game streaming and be like Apple Arcade. They are very close to that.
Disney + is losing subscribers just as fast.
The cost of living is getting a bit ridiculous, so I donât care how resiliant you think some businesses are, people will be forced to cut back on spending on things that are not essential.
Disney+ has a high churn rate indeed.
I imagine leaving Russia is also making them lose subscribers.
I mean just like posted earlier
It all boils down who is gonna be cut and who will stay.
Is it? Havenât seen anything about that recently.
I just saw Morbius.
Several YouTube channels that I follow and often agree with when it comes to movies all said it was bad, or even terrible. But I had seen the trailer several times in the cinema and always liked it, had to see it for myself.
I donât get the huge hate for this at all. I actually quite enjoyed it. Sure it had some flaws, every movie does. Now I am totally not familiar with Morbius in terms of comics, so maybe thatâs the reason Iâm not seeing the terrible in this, but this was anything but terrible. If anything I find some other Marvel movies like No way Home extremely overrated and Morbius underrated.
If thereâs one big complaint Iâd give is that this is pg13 when it shouldnât have been, just like Venom. Had tbis been been R like Logan, oh yes.
Disney+ growth stalled in the last quarter of the year - Señal News (senalnews.com)
Makes sense, all subscription growth is slowing due to everyone coming out of the pandemic era. Even Gamepassâs growth was smaller than we all expected when they released their numbers.
Also too many options aiming for the same public and the same financial goals, not even in console space you have three going side on side, you have two at best and the other running for another public which is the current formation since 2006, what it makes a lot worse for consumers is because its all about taking out the licenses from the other services instead of sharing it and making the more stuff you have as an differential.
The price increase didnât do them any favors. Same with the rumors about cracking down on family sharing and charging even more for shared accounts.
