Even what Richard said doesn’t mean much… Everything is scalable and he of all the people should know it
Also, series S doesn’t even hold back anything… Many games have already released without RT features on S but X and PS5 does have RT features in those games
So I don’t get what is even the point here… Keep druming that series S is weak?
I don’t have an issue with the video or what you are talking about, just the cringe console warrior Twitter account, just post the time stamped direct video imo, just hate giving those sorts of accounts coverage.
Agreed. Then I don’t get why Richard theorizes this either. It’s only a theory and it doesn’t sound like he actually heard this from devs. Let’s keep it at this, agreed.
Got it, and I don’t disagree. It was a tweet that became visible because of someone I follow on Twitter that often posts really nice photos from Xbox games. But his replies to other things I see too.
It’s a stupid argument that ignores examples where we’ve seen actual global-illumination RT running on Series S: Metro Exodus. It could be a technical deficiency on the side of the studio, like with Control, but I’m not saying that to be the case, just simply stating that positing that Series S is to blame when we’ve got real-world counterexamples to the RT question and forked profiles in games on the Series platform.
Exactly. Most games currently are merely being brute forced and even SX and PS5 aren’t doing that great in some games relative to their on-paper capabilities. I think there are levels to performance: brute forced, optimized, designed-for.
Series S won’t do good in brute force, but will do better with optimization, and much better with games designed-for.
Series S is great. Games hold up really well. I would say when I played subnautica a few months ago half of my time was on series S. Ran great. As long as games can keep hitting 60 FPS on it im good. That should always be its point in the future. When we get a series S and X 2 the new S should still push 60 fps as a standard
That’s why if I ever pick up an Elite controller, when my V1 ghosts, it will be from a local brick-and-mortar place with exceptional customer service for replacements and exchanges – like Costco. I had some sticking face buttons on the Xbox Series Controller but after extensive use over a lengthy gaming weekend the issue fixed itself. Hopefully yours will fix itself after the same.
This is what I did too. Bought it from Costco April 2020, got an exchange from MS February, August, and November 2021. Hopefully going through MS doesn’t mess with the Costco replacement policy. At this point I’m invested in keeping my Elite 2 but I would tell anybody interested to stay away unless they have money to burn.
Still dreaming about an Elite 3 that has good build quality, replaceable battery, and a few bells and whistles like haptics and gyro. For a controller that expensive, I want it to be second to none and built to last.
Sorry about your troubles @binarymelon. As far as I know it’s a lottery
