You can see that GSC had already made the graphic for a potential delay announcement but had left the date area empty or placeholder, and they just photoshopped December 8th, 2022 onto it.
Iâm interested to see what they get for the 1st half of the year. I wouldnât be shocked to see MLB the show again but theyâll obviously need more.
Feel bad for the guy lol, the community manager guys are always the last to know the important info.
That would be true if the next paragraph didnât reference the new timeline, I think its just bold to stick out.
Do you think Sony wont try to avoid that this time around? Not like it matters imo since the game gets more traction for them but you know how it goes.
yeah its unfortunate but someone at the studio should have at least told the community manager that âhey that language makes it seem like itâs all just some dumb rumor, maybe tone that down a bit?â lol but nah they really sent him to the sharks
Sony canât do shit I feel. If the game did well last year and the gamepass addition was a success (presuming the deal wasnât already including multiple years), then MLB gets to decide this time too.
youâre right!
Im always more inclined to believe that a game will actually benefit from a delay when the delay is substantial (Like 6+ months) rather than a small month or two delay right before launch in a desperate hope to get the game semi-functional before release.
I think MLB was an one time thing. It was the easiest way to establish an audience on the Xbox platform, I think it did its job by doing that.
Could be wrong though.
At least now will be a console exclusive for all 2022, lol. Big blow to Xbox H1 line-up.
That would be low blow. Not that the sale would hurt or anything, but ego would be hurt to see Xbox not only getting the game but placed on day one launch on the service they despise (despite working on one more or less).
Sony has no sway over Major League Baseball
Letâs wait and see how they adjust to these delaysâŚ
I meant to say Sony really doesnât have any say what happens to the MLB games on other platforms, which is managed and published by MLB themselves. The deal was perhaps as simple as âcontinue developing the game but allow for all platforms and let us take care of the publishing outside Playstation, or just lose the license.â Iâm sure some EA sports studio would love to get their hands on MLB, but Sony wants to keep making it themselves.
MS just saw a 5D chess opportunity and as soon as the news of MLB going multiplat happened and that PS wasnât involved in publishing on Xbox, they just nothin personnel-ed Sony and got the deal done behind the shadows lol. Sony must definitely feel pretty strongly about it but ultimately they donât have any say outside Playstation so I think they stopped caring about that and just keep making money.
We keep mentioning Redfall, but it absolutely could be Warhammer Dark Tide too thatâs gets a delay. Itâs also for the first half of this year.
Sure but they make the game so idk how it handles going forward. Ill be surprised if it hits game pass again so lets wait and see granted MLB is the publisher and the license owner so Im sure they will do whatever the f*** they want lmao.
That one already got delayed multiple times, it went from launch game to generic 2021 to generic sping 2022.
They donât own the IP, have a studio dedicated to making it, and are just stuck doing what the MLB wants right now. Itâs a huge reason Xbox doesnât want to work with IP they donât own all the time anymore, only sometimes.
Its a double edge sword when it comes to that
Itâs easy to say I told you so, but you are absolutely correct. When I heard that it was using UE5 I knew the chances of it releasing in April 2022 was very slim because the engine still doesnât have a commercial release as far as I am aware.
