They have some which were wrapped into a Sony Fork / Snapshot of a PS1/2 Emulator, those are the ones that are downloadable for PS4. I never heard anything good about them, but maybe on PS5 they’ll be better. No idea on the number of wrapped PS1/2 gen titles.

I actually purchased a few when they first became available. They ran fine from my recollection.

I don’t think that will happen. Sony would have to make their own emulators (which they seem unwilling to do) or hire teams to take the original game code and rework it to run natively on PS5 which probably costs more money than it’s worth for most titles, not to mention headaches with licensing.

Their strategy will be to tie it to their new service, which isn’t much different than what Playstation NOW already is with regards to PS3 titles. I’m sure games journalists will cheer and pump their fists and proclaim this a great triumph though.

That of course. Apparantly nowadays Dumb Delivery is becoming popular because you can select the version of the game to download

Though maybe it would be interesting to have a settings like “enable smart delivery” or “enable manual selection”

Jokes aside, I think this is the XSX/XSS name shenanigans all over again. People will know the difference between Gamepass/Spartacus. Etc Etc. I don’t think we should worry too much about that.

The problem is that how Sony will market the service. Keep in mind that there is zero Game Pass marketing.

If Sony successfully sell they idea, that Spartacus is their Game Pass, people will assume that Game Pass has nothing but trial games, old games etc.

Well im only speaking for myself, if combining +/Now along with a bunch of old games is the best they can do they can jog on

and im sure the service will do well but one of the biggest questions asked about it will be if games are Day 1 and they wont be

Sometimes there are 3hrs trials on stores, maybe it’s that. 10hrs is too much for sp games.

Spartacus is somehow more boring than i could have imagined. For 16 dollars a month you get PSNOW/PSPLUS, some older games and a few game trials.

Without day one first party and/or third party releases on the subscription service, my interest remains non-existent.

I do recall some tech discussions diving into the version of the emulator Sony used for their Retro mini-console efforts versus what was available that had more features and performed better.

It will release as it is elsewhere.

I still don’t get on the price hike. A Plague’s Tale sequel is up for preorder and it’s $59.99. It’s next gen only as far as I’m concerned. Is the price hike just greed or justifiable?
