Sifu is still a pain in the ass but it’s clicked for me now and I can’t put it down.
But I do feel there should have been a stage between 1 and 2. The Club is just a massive difficulty ramp over the first level, and it has the fewest shortcuts so you just have to get really really good at the game right away, whereas I feel it could have eased into that with one more level in between. No wonder PS trophies show most people dropped the game at Level 2 or are still stuck there, like I was for the longest. Honestly the boss was easier than the level itself lol.
Man, seeing the latest target ads, it really going to confuse people who doesn’t know Horizon FW can be upgraded for free. They advertised two versions as two different product without a mention of free upgrade.
Never forget that Sony tried to walk back having a free upgrade for HFW and alot of people didn’t see a problem with it because “A premium game deserves premium treatment”
But Smart Delivery is still a scam and bad because the Series X version isn’t on the disc so 30 years from now in the climate changed induced wasteland this might be a problem.
I agree with what Amok says in the video. I do think that HFW is still the best looking game of the generation but it’s honestly, too much. They went overboard. Like the saying goes, less is more. Adding so much density to the foliage and whatnot hurts the overall image quality.
I definitely agree with Amok when it comes to these resolution/performance modes. I’m honestly sick of them already. I’m also not a fan of dynamic resolution either. I would easily take one mode at 1440p, 60fps, high settings and HDR.
I deleted my save file and will probably replay Tsushima on PS5 next week as I don’t have a save file for the game and want to play Iki Island. I figure that Tsushima is in a far greater state than HFW and even Cyberpunk 2077 which is my other major game that I want to play.
Since I don’t have any new game releases until May at the earliest with Forspoken which is 50/50 and can easily be eliminated, I can wait a month or so before playing HFW.
Also, outside of there being no tracks/path in HZD when Aloy walks through the snow, it’s amazing how great HZD still looks five years later running on last generation hardware.
I don’t think options are bad. Some of us sit kinda close to the screen and I bet 1440p or something like 1800p, let alone 2160p can definitely be noticed. I believe Psychonauts 2’s 120hz mode is in 1440p and I definitely noticed it looking slightly more fuzzier and since 60fps is top notch for me I go with that.
But I get you. It’s commendable what GG did with all the bells and whistles but it should never sacrifice picture quality this much, and it definitely did.
I don’t give a fuck about Horizon but this dude is delusional if he can’t understand that doubling the frame-rate (while keeping most of the graphics settings really close to resolution mode) will have compromises in IQ. We are talking about 500 euro boxes here and if anyone doesn’t want compromises then the answer is a high end PC, one way or another you will have to deal with compromises on a console. Also comparing Horizon 2 to GoT and the first game is ridiculous, the jump in asset quality in FW when compared to the other two games is immense.
Some people want it all: innovation, advanced physics, great IQ AND high frame-rate…well that’s not happening unless you sell a kidney to build a high end PC that is. Some people are for a rude awakening in a few years when the most taxing current only gen games will start to arrive…thank god I can still play games at 30fps just fine.
But he does mention that GoT in has way less quality in those areas. Did you watch the whole video?
I can understand his disappointment for sure. Ever since PS3 with their exclusives we’ve gotten used to having really clean looking games. The reveal certainly looked super clean but that was probably resolution mode. Would have been nice to have a clean looking performance mode too, which would have meant cutting down on some other things.
If I had a PS5 and the game I’d go with resolution for damn sure too, I’d accept the lower framerate in those cases. Because with my viewing distance I’m gonna notice the ugly stuff immediately.
As for high end PC, gotta say that sometimes I do think about it, maybe even considering it. But the downsides are there too, and for me too big probably.
Options aren’t bad but I think one fixed mode would be better because it’s less testing for all the different modes. It would be easier to optimize each category respectively. Start with 60FPS, then go to high settings followed by HDR and then resolution. Having two or more modes in games always makes me look at it, like, why not just make one overall good and stable mode? I would think that it would be a lot easier to perfect one mode as opposed to getting two or more modes running at a stable frame rate with high image quality.
I can see where you’re coming from with this. But there are examples where I’m glad we have options. FH5 for example, it’s a game meant to be played in 60fps in my opinion, but there’s also the quality mode that has slightly less pop in, more foliage for those really paying attention to that. And I think both are native 4K even too. Something for everyone
Or a better example would be Watch_Dogs Legion or Control. 60fps for that smooth experience and also dynamic 4K or raytracing that in those cases is really worth it, but is 30fps. If they had only one mode for games too much stuff I’m afraid would get sacrificed. Some visual bells and whistles would be toned down to achieve raytracing or overall image quality worse to have raytracing and in those cases I would say…no thank you.
Yeah same here, I’ve tried PC gaming at the start of last gen before getting any console and it’s not for me…I always was a console gamer and I am too old to learn new tricks I guess.
I watched the whole video yes and I think that he is a little hyperbolic with his comments, sure the performance mode could use a better upscale method than checkerboard but in the end of the day you are getting much higher quality visuals than GoT and the first game at a fairly steady 60fps. That’s not a small feat IMO.
The new consoles are very well designed (and much more future-proofed than last gen’s machines) but they also have their limits, different games have different priorities plus budgets and dev time are finite as well. I am saying that we should keep those in mind before commenting in a game’s tech.
Well, it could still be the case that Smart Delivery is not a scam, its actually pretty dope, and still expect MS to not make appalling decisions with the physical versions of their games, which just so happens to be a common occurence with them. Doesn’t need to be one or the other.
While I’m playing, I decided to listen a podcast from suggested section in YouTube. Some thinks it’s unfair for Dying Light 2 getting slammed for bugs, but Horizon FW got away for the most part. One is like if it was Xbox, it would get slammed as well. One tried to object by saying Halo Infinite didn’t have FFA at start, only to counter immediately with “There’s a different between not having a thing at launch and not working well.” Not sure that guy was hating but regardless, I’m intrigued to hear more.
Watching now DefiningDuke and it is dissappointing that they are really considering the possibility that Bethesda games are coming to Playstation - due to ATVI deal and that making Starfield the most played game is not possible without Playstation
Damn, the atmosphere among Xbox folks certainly changed with ATVI deal.
The contents of the physical media is up to each individual developer studio. So dont hold Microsoft accountable for what Square Enix or others decide to put on their discs.
