Is it their desire though?

The price they are willing to pay for Bungie shows you how much confidence they have in their own or second party multiplayer projects.

Below zero.

What exactly did Sony buy here if they dont plan to use Bungie for any kind of exclusivity?

i think this ensuring future destiny stay on PS, MS and others was lurking on this one, Sony was highest bidder

Show they can answer to MS.

Wow. Didn’t even think of this. You’re right.

It’s simple! They can’t leave all that Xbox fanbase money on the table. They have to make back what they spend! :phil_lmao:

The Destiny IP, and as mentioned above, all the transmedia ambition Bungie has with it, which aids Sony more than just on the gaming side. All while raking in mad money from the live service side on the regular, and the studio helping them get better at live service everything across SIE and xDev.

this is MC all over again lol

Bungie could be hella useful in other areas too (art and tech, collaboration, networking and live design which PS are very mediocre at) but I’m still expecting exclusivity, easily, whatever form it may be: DLC, new IP, timed exclusivity.

Not really. It shows they were willing to overpay to avoid being cornered out of an entire genre.

Think the benefit of this deal is to make sure Xbox doesnt buy Bungie and cut them off from Playstation. 3.6B dollars to ensure YOU AT LEAST keep Bungie FPS on the console.

this just validates my above point even more and gives credence to the idea of why Bungie might have gone with Sony over anyone else.

2.5B MC and 7.5B Zenimax were a steal deal by Xbox

It would take this site awhile to calm down if it was lol.

idk i think xbox/phil would let them do that just like MC but i think he was not intersted in paying much and bungie is not necessary to complete their vision

You’re on fire. Also, another big sign this generation is about to be crazy unpredictable and will change the landscape for real

They say they will stay multiplatform. Lets see what happens after this activision deal closes

Xbox has nowhere close to the interest nor resources in transmedia expansion compared to Sony. That’s just facts. They can allow yes, but they can hardly provide anything on their own that Bungie would love to have on their journey to become multimedia.
