XboxEra Community Hangout |OT5| Season of the Infinite.. Arguments

At least you watched some good movies. I hate the fact that some marvel movies are good with context.

Nick is about to reveal every future Xbox acquisition on this podcast, tune in!

Iā€™ve been playing The Evil Within 2 and itā€™s pretty clear that Tango need a new engine if they want to continue perusing third-person perspective games. Their Stem offshoot of id Tech holds the game back.

I do not get at all that BGS just doesnā€™t make a separate version for AE and leave SE as it is. Tons of modders and users of mods are not going to be happy and thatā€™s putting it mildly. They can avoid negative backlash for sure here.

Idk about new engine but I need TEW3 to be more like the first game.

Iā€™m listening and itā€™s entertaining but thereā€™s a lot of kinda HOPIUM getting passed around.

ā€œhopiumā€ and ā€œcopiumā€ are terms Iā€™m not a fan of due to the nature of the communities that love to use them.

ah mb. Iā€™m coming off watching a lot of Worlds for League where itā€™s been thrown around on broadcast. I can understand not liking the League community in addition to those suspects though :stuck_out_tongue:

I bought the Banner Saga Trilogh for $15 off Amazon and so far so good.

I donā€™t really understand the takes theyā€™re making about how itā€™s unique (or a SIGN) that Sarah Bond is the one brokering the deal with SEGA vs Satya with Sony. Sony was Sony at large, not PlayStation and Sony wasnā€™t some client with Microsoft/Xbox beforehand.

SEGA obviously has a relationship with Microsoft/Xbox as they are the platform holders and SEGA is a gaming company first and foremost. Bond is the CVP at Microsoft/Xbox with a focus on business development, partners, creators and ecosystem across Xbox/Azure/MS365. Of course it makes sense for Sarah to be leading discussions in this space.

I feel like people see Sarah at E3 and talking about Game Pass and so they think thatā€™s all sheā€™s about, so there must be some ulterior motive.

Iā€™m sure there COULD be discussions here or a building of a business relationship w/r/t game pass and ports or whatever. But this really could be just as simple as Microsoft trying to win a big client for Azure/365/GameStack and gettinā€™ paid for it.

But it makes for good content/discussion to hype it up as a shadow acquisition/day one game pass deals/exclusive IP revivalsā€¦

Jez Corden is also gonna make an article around that with more details.

Iā€™ve seen the Zhuge tweets. Iā€™m not sure what youā€™re getting at with this response though? Zhuge is saying Xbox (the gaming face of Microsoft) has an end-to-end offering comprised of Azure, GameStack, Game Pass, Hardware, etc. Which is also why Sarah Bond isnā€™t just Game Pass, like I said. She deals with the Xbox gaming ecosystem as a whole (the end-to-end) for business partners and creators.

SEGA isnā€™t forced to commit to all layers and all offerings Microsoft has to offer (they can host on Azure and not use GameStack tools like Simplygonā€¦). Microsoft obviously wants to sell all their tools and services because thatā€™s how they make money though. Thatā€™s why getting a big client like SEGA integrated within their entire suite and gaming ecosystem is beneficial for MS. MS gets paid and gets to mature their tools to meet real-world needs at scale.

And Iā€™m not saying this is ultimately meaningless at all. Itā€™s obviously a big deal, but itā€™s just Microsoft landing a large client to use their cloud tools atm. Itā€™s nice to see Japanese developers getting closer to the brand. Iā€™ll read Jezā€™s article for sure, but idk Jez usually doesnā€™t have any super deep business takes or insight. Great leaks/project info though.

Iā€™m looking forward to Brad Sams talking a bit more about what he knows.

Jez can totally also have more details about that and what it entails. For the rest, it was just for context into the situation. But letā€™s move that to the SEGA partnership topic.

Brad Sams is pretty good about MS business yeah

Sarah also talked about how she was excited to share more. If it was all internal stuff she wouldnā€™t care. Itā€™s going to mean something for Xbox, we just donā€™t know what that is yet.
