Btw we have a VOD channel for our live streams called Xbox Era Plays. Since we had to stop streaming on the main YouTube page we’ve started hitting up our Twitch channel “TheXboxEra”. I take those VODs and upload them to this new channel so that they are not lost to the sands of time (aka twitch’s 15 day deletion on VOD policy). Plenty of stuff up there including a recently concluded full playthrough of Halo Infinite (as in I finished it today!).

I don’t know if this is considered hot take, but PS hasn’t really done anything risk or inventive tech spec for their console since PS3 with cell processor and Blu-ray; former being a drag despite end result for first party. PS4 was a simple but nice upgrade from last generation, but it was seen spectacular because Xbox was way off course with Kinect and television focus; downgraded as well. Nintendo, well they are in their own world, so no need to worry. Although Switch would prove to be massive with fusion of handheld and console, so yeah, Nintendo can be inventive as well; perhaps more than the two.
I tend to think people credited heavily on Mark Cerny for doing something “unbelievable.” Make no mistake, he deserved the credit for the architect, but he’s not much of a wizard if Xbox could have done the same, have they focused on the right area in the first place. I suppose people would assume the same for PS5 with the banking on SSD being massive game changer. It helps, sure, but not massive as one would hope.

Jason Ronald and co been eating Sony’s toast hardware wise since like 2016-17 and thats not anything controversial. Mind you I could listen to Cerny talk for hours cause that man can make such complicated stuff simple and enjoyable which means I gotta give him credit and plug this excellent video.
