I would hope Fable really is indeed that. The last two mainline Fables had co-op, but it wasn’t mandatory and it didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything while playing it solo. It’s been almost 1.5 years since Fable reveal, some info really would not be a bad thing. It’s probably a E3 2022 thing though. E3 is likely going to be very RPG heavy.
Yeah, I think Fable will definitely be one of those games. It is probably a late 2023 title though, so not too suprised we haven’t heard much about it. We also might not even at next E3… could see it being a TGA or X0 2022 deal easily.
I’m not team one RPG at a time, but they will have both Starfield and (likely) Avowed coming first that they need to promote.
That said, Fable is so different from those games it might not even matter.
Starfield is a given. Fable and Avowed very likely. But if I was Microsoft I’d put avowed in a different show whether before or after.
I just hope we dont have to wait till E3 to see redfall. Game looks cool but we cant tell much from a CGI trailor and leaked alpha screenshots
Yeah, if it’s in Summer then it should be shown in early 2022.
hearing Jez and Rand talk about the Sholin game has me interested.
Great news.
[Xbox Live Gold increase flashbacks]
Why? Surely you would want to publicise the games you invest it through the highest reach events?
Bruh ngl GotG looks pretty fun. Barring some clunkiness in animation and platforming, the abilities, dialogue system, progression, characters and writing looks promising.
First because it’s the same genre as Starfield, and because it would be Starfield’s moment anyway so Avowed might get buried. Then because the possibility of Fable being shown which could also bury Avowed’s hype even more (Fable can exist with Starfield because it’s different). Avowed deserves its own time to shine. Writing, world-building, and character quality wise I’m betting on Avowed being the better game btw.
What I’m seeing is an actual visual mess wtf
To the average viewer, Fable and Avowed are the same genre (fantasy) while Starfield is a different genre (sci fi).
I would say that the challenge for MS is avoiding Fable and Avowed – or Fable and ES6 depending on how long Fable is going to take – out of the same shows. Starfield doesn’t tread on either of them.
the visuals aren’t its strongest suit for sure, but I don’t particularly mind it, cuz that wasn’t my concern with the game to begin with.
Like I’m not talking about the visual quality, just the lack of visual clarity. When they’re fighting I litterally don’t know what’s even happening. The characters blend with the backgrounds in almost every scene it saw.
yeah readability is the biggest culprit in making the game look cluttered. But I think part of it had to do with how the environment they were in in this intro hour was just overwhelmingly bright pink/one color. Maybe it improves later on when more varied environments come in.
Fable is completely different in its perspective, and probably in its lighter visual style and tone. Avowed is first person and more dark in colors and tone as well. It isn’t a challenge when to show Fable, it’s a challenge when to show Bethesda and Obsidian’s RPGs because they are the ones that are very similar in their target audience and shared game design philosophies too.
Outer Worlds 2 and Starfield maybe cross over, no problem, they are years apart.
Avowed and Elder Scrolls 100% cross over, but they are years apart too.
No one is going to look at a medieval fantasy RPG with swords and magic, and a hard sci-fi game with spaceships and lasers, and say they look like the same game.
It’s a non-issue.
The average viewer isn’t going to see two games as being in competition just because they fit into the very broad category of WRPG. In the same way no one worries about almost every game being a third person adventure these days.
So long as the games have different themes and tones it is fine.
Edit: and also, the report from Jez Corden who has seen pre Alpha footage of Avowed suggests the game actually has plenty of vibrant colours in it.
