Itās why TGAs being viewed as the āpinacleā of game awards is a joke. I understand bringing more eyes to industry etc, but you cannot be taken seriously as an award show when you have the example you gave. It is either one or the other.

The Nickelodeon Kidās Choice Awards shows more respect to the nominees and winners, and they literally dump green goop on them.

People need to start realizing that the TGAs are a glorified advertisement for publishers and not much else. Itās only really good for seeing what new game trailers show up and thatās about it. If you really care about which games win what awards, you should probably care more about the D.I.C.E awards than this. Last time i watched this show all the way through, they debuted TLOU for the first time. Since then i just watch the new trailers on Youtube after the show, and seeing as how i will likely be neck deep in Halo Infinite when this airs, thatāll be the case this year too.

Itās unfortunate but you can really tell he cares more about viewer numbers than the actual awards he gives out. Unfortunately for Geoff he put himself in this position open for so much scrunity and criticism. He had no problem putting Konami on blast live for what they did to Kojima, probably because theyāre something of an āeasierā target. What happened to Kojima wasnāt great but the stuff thatās come out from Activision, Insomniac, Ubisoft, etc is just plain awful and for a show apparently aimed at celebrating those in the industry, what better stage with so many viewers to call out all the toxic and abhorrent behaviour thatās going on in the industry on a public stage but instead heās seemingly opted against it. I suppose when you have high ranking guys from Ubisoft and Activision on TGA board, itās not surprise heās taken this routeā¦
To be honest, instead of just leaking shit i do wish we had more journalists out there looking into and exposing the awful treatment and toxic behaviour thatās going on in the industry, investigate whether those exposed actually have made changes for the better, etc. Itās good Activision, Insomniac, Ubisoft, etc have been exposed but you can bet your ass that the toxicity isnāt just restricted to those 3 devs/publishers.
