Happy Sunday Reaction GIF by Robert E Blackmon

In all seriousness though, some people are making way too big of a deal if Kojima ends up making another game for Sony; it doesn’t mean that he’s not making one for Xbox, in fact, as an independent developer it literally means nothing.

Also, acting as though Kojima is some monolithic representative for Japanese gaming, and Xbox’s chances in Japan, is just asinine. Most importantly because it’s borderline xenophobic at worst, and naively reductionist at best. Secondly, there are far more creators in Japan that have more successful titles than Kojima… so again the point is just stupid.

How about, instead of freaking out at every bit of news from the other side of the aisle, we remember that times have never been better with Xbox: Game Pass is growing faster than expected, consoles are selling as soon as they’re restocked, the XGS family is a colossus that will only get bigger, and the inroads we’ve seen with Asian content lately has been a stark improvement over last gen. I haven’t even mentioned how great the past two years’ of GP content has been, or the fact that while you lot freak out about the littlest things, the group you’re concerned about is likely about to have some hardware issues and only released two new first-party titles all year.

Playstation: Rumored to do literally anything

You guys really need to relax on the hyperbole whenever Sony does something. For starters, its blatant console warring mentality and it looks bad. Secondly, Sony isn’t just going to sit idly by this entire generation. Every move or rumored move doesn’t need a call for Xbox to respond. Xbox has never been in a better place and still I see so much insecurity and panic over nothing.

The game is what should always matter…

That’s why I find the current on going hype around Kojima pointless

Looks bad for whom? Playstation constantly engages in it on a corporate level from “playstation advantage” to doing announcements exactly at the same time as MS. Media engages in it too. And aside Xbox community on forums, nobody considers that bad.

I do dream of day when the topics about Xbox generated thousands of messages fast. But only acquisitions are able to do that.

P.S. I wonder if Bluepoint acquisition is gonna be announced just in time with some other MS’ announcement.

Where are the numbers though? Last time it was around 1m per month. So now it should be around 25-26m. I guess by the end of the year they should be around 30m. If they don’t achieve 30m then that would mean that something went wrong.

But it won’t affect the baseline anyway and consoles will continue to sell fast on various markets.

At least they weren’t sued

I just don’t get the constant worry or discussion about it in all honesty. It seems like Xbox ‘just’ wants Kojima to make a cloud game and not to tie him down to some sort of exclusive contract that some are advocating for.

The game from Kojima is a thing that is happening, but at no point has Grubb said that it would mean that Kojima will only develop for Xbox and has made it clear that it is independent of anything else Kojima plans to do. I think people have wrapped themselves in the console war a bit too much and need to relax.

I just want Kojima for the tears. :man_shrugging:

It’s been a while that Grubb said this, so I don’t remember the exact words but he made it a point to mention that it’s really about the cloud, not necessarily a pitch for a game. Of course he only knows so much as well, and I do recall that Grubb earlier had also said Kohima was making a game for Xbox.

It’s still just a little vague and that’s also the problem with rumors and insiders. We can only wait and hope the deal gets announced officially this year, that would be nice.

This has to be fake, right? I thought I was going to read that the man travelled there and gave him a real console.

If this is real I have no words.

A lot of people because of either their personal preferences for certain types of games or still being psychologically tethered to the old evaluative metrics, can’t seem to get past the idea of “without specific inroads into Japan, e.g., getting big named developers on board, purchase of some studios, defeating various money hats, Xbox will suffer greatly.” This mentality definitely fuels so many repetitive gloom and doom conversations.

Xbox 360 strategy of one-upping almost every PS move was very successfull, so why they don’t repeat something worked at least until they had the great Kinect idea? XD

Anyway, I said above that the overall Xbox strategy is good and we’re all seeing it, also we can see their progress in the land of rising sun are tiny step by step, I wonder when we’ll see or ar least hear officially of an exclusive content from over there, I’m not asking the Moon or demanding that they must buy SEGA or it’s over.

Because in successful Xbox 360 period they engaged in console warring and was pursuing exclusive games for the platform. Then they pivoted to Kinect and basically finished off Xbox in 2014.

I know what happened, I’m wondering why they don’t use some of those tactics now, they clearly can be ruthless when they want, Starfield was a meaningful message, so it was TOW 2 or the Psychonauts 2 deal (PS had only the Kickstarter thing and that’s it), etc…

it’s fake, but as good as not.

Getting Yakuza, Dragon Quest (I assume the new one too) finally on Xbox and Tales of franchise back on Xbox is a great thing, a fantastic thing even because I think many of us gave up on that. These franchises don’t sell gangbusters on Xbox, but Phil acknowledged that there was a fanbase for these games.

But Sony isn’t sitting still and while we finally have received many of the older FF games we are going to miss out on 16 for a long time to come and god knows when FF7R finally comes to Xbox. And I bet this won’t be all, I can absolutely see Sony try to get some deal for the newest Dragon Quest too, it’s just so Sony like to do that. Becahse look at FF, this also is not a gigantic seller on Xbox but here we see Sony try real hard getting it’s timed exclusive period extended.

I don’t see anything wrong in wishing that Xbox goes strong against this, where possible make sure DQ does release day and date on Xbox, and that we do get Persona on Xbox (Game Pass), although I think at this point Phil has definitely tried to get that one,so if it doesn’t happen I don’t think it’s on Phil/Xbox anymore. I also really don’t see this as console warring.

The sad thing is it could be true, and noone would be surprised.

That’s my point and not only mine. Why saying “Xbox should answer fire with fire sometimes” is swiftly labeled as console warring, when other companies do it every day (not only Sony, but also Nintendo or Epic).
