Incredibly disingenuous… with Sony’s corporate strategy being to moneyhat everything.

Jimbo is full of shit, lmao, the “believe in generations” and moneyhat guy who argues about throwing money, it’s ludicrous.

Well he’s partially right, as Microsoft can simply throw even more money at it if desired.

Imo he’s only admitting that he can’t do the same, like with Game Pass.

Sony can’t compete on MS level. Of course they say things like that.

Ding, dingz ding. We have the answer right here.

I mean, Satya himself put it as one of the competive advantages that Microsoft has over their competitors :The ability to outspend the likes of Sony lol.

Tried out the Lake demo. It’s chill, maybe a bit too chill. It’s the sort of small down vibe I want in a game but without anything to spice it up. Makes me excited for that detective project White Owls Kickstarted that’s coming to Game Pass.

Wow is Sable pretty but boring.

This sounds salty lol.

Guess he wasn’t ready for such a fierce competition this gen. That’s what you get for trying to ride the momentum and react with timed-exclusives.

Judging by their counter-measures, interviews and continuous change of hearts, it seems to me that they though that the PS4 strategy (moneyhats, usual 1st party suspects and usual bombasting marketing) was enough…guess what, it isn’t and they are nor prepared nor able to counter a full aggressive MS, they never were if you remember the 360 days and even then Ballmer approval was minimal and only to save MS image.

Everyone is talking about the obvious point which is the sheer financial backing Microsoft has but I personally think Xbox also has a way better leadership edge right now with Phil Spencer and his team.

Since the Xbox series X specs reveal Sony is acting strange.

They were caught off guard expecting a failure of a launch for Xbox, also COVID and the chip shortage took their only chance to zoom ahead of Xbox in sales.

Now the gig is up, next-gens are now cross-gens and Xbox has shown it’s full power for years to come.

Jimbo:

“We’re going to take an organic growth approach!”

  • Shutters Japan Studio
  • Chases out Bend’s top talent by cancelling Days Gone 2
  • Impedes the original team creating TLOU remake
  • Bought out 90% of their first-party

Also Jimbo:

“We believe in generations!”

  • Lied to fans
  • Tied down to the PS4 for up to four years
  • Has less next generation exclusives than Xbox

Jimbo on a hot streak:

“It’s not as easy as just throwing money around!”

  • Moneyhatted several Final Fantasy games
  • Bought timed exclusivity on Bethesda titles
  • Rumors of more timed exclusives on the way

Jimbo off screen:

Also funny to note how they’re eager to say how their studios and partnerships are getting full creative support and funding, just like Xbox.

Let’s not forget about the bend studios drama…

I think Jim needs to be more humble like Phil because when he tries to dunk on Microsoft he usually looks like a hypocrite.

So sony has been back and forth on this acquisition vs organic growth thing…here’s what i think is gonna happen. Sony will acquire 1 or 2 mid sized studios with AAA potential and continue with their 3rd party publishing approach. Sony imo doesn’t care about where the game is made they just don’t want the game on xbox.

I think they will just acquire the companies they have been partnering with if the games turn out well.

I spoke about this on my latest podcast episode, but it’s like the Sony PR department doesn’t communicate with their other departments. Jimbo and other execs go on the record saying stupid shit that fanboys want to hear and then it blows back in their face. It seemed like a bit of an emotive comment for the sake of firing shots at Xbox, rather than anything well thought out or constructive.

I’m also aware that the website titled the article with that line for a reason and I’m probably being played like a fiddle and being overly selective.
