XboxEra Community Hangout |OT2| Cracking down on shitposting

I love the idea of doing one, but I get it with the family and whatnot.

Daaamn, Daniel. Puttin’ in the work

Great example of how people shift opinions based on things like wants, needs, biasis, current interest level etc.

You are right, thats another thing where this guy is wrong. xcloud is supported in many countries, even South Korea. And i think they are the first to expand to Brazil, Mexico and Australia.

Yeah they’ll certainly get to where ever he is, eventually

Also, judging by a lot of his tweets, he’s just going to mostly be playing Pokemon on his Switch. So I think he’ll be fine in the meantime

Yeah they’re doing beta testing for Android here in straya

Xcloud makes a lot of sense for Brazil. we play a lot on mobile and the hardware (PC Gamer, Consoles) is incredibly expensive and restrictive for most Brazilians. Xcloud will make it possible for many in the world to have access to console games(Starfield, Hellblade 2 etc) that would not have before. :slightly_smiling_face:

We know that they are testing Xcloud in Brazil. but we have no more news about what is going to happen and no date for the launch of Xbox Cloud Gaming in Brazil.

Man, f these insiders.

Let’s just wait and see. Let’s especially hope that NONE of them spoil the whole show and if it does happen I hope people don’t post it here. I bet there definitely is a surprise or two (whether new game announce or a big third party game launching on Game Pass day one I don’t know…) and I don’t want it spoiled.

We have no idea about Sony. Can they manage to show off both Horizon and God of War? If yes, it’s a strong, but expected showing, but it can’t be denied that it’ll undoubtedly be visually impressive. Then they got stuff like Kena, the timed SE exclusives and that way it could be a strong show. But we’ll see.

Xbox shows always get leaked, so it is best to get off social media and other places because leaks will happen.

Everyone assigned to a crew for tonight? I expect the XboxEra community to completely obliterate the Black Hurl.

I don’t visit Twitter myself, I either see them via YouTube videos or they are posted here. I like it too much here to already stop visiting from now till after E3. Honestly, last year it wasn’t too bad. I don’t recall reading lots of leaks here then.

This would be awesome and very welcome.

While im the most hyped and excited than I have been in over a decade for Xbox, I am going into their E3 showcase with low expectations especially after last year. I loved Days Gone when I played it two years ago on PS4 Pro as it was my 2019 game of the year and in general, when it comes to Sony’s first party studios, I always expect Greatness from them and I would say that I get that the vast majority of the time. Sony has given me my game of the year for the last four years and I wouldn’t be shocked if they somehow make it five years with Ratchet and especially if Horizon 2 releases in the Fall.

Back to Microsoft and Xbox, I want to always expect Excellence but the problem is, they never truly wow me in order for me to feel like that so I go in with low expectations as usual to where I won’t be disappointed because of where I set my expectations and if they actually give me an amazing showcase, then I will be pleasantly surprised.

For the showcase itself, I do believe that gameplay trailers for Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, Starfield, Avowed, Project Omen (Arkane), Project Typhoon (third party exclusive from Global Publishing), Wolfenstein III and Josh Sawyer’s smaller AA title will be shown if these are all far along enough to where they will be released before the end of 2022. I can see their showcase being great once you factor in the third party multi-platform games but not as great as was expected just a few short weeks ago.

It does seem like all their other games such as Hellblade II, Everwild, Fable, State of Decay 3 and Perfect Dark have all been pushed back a year or at least that’s how it seems to me so im not expecting gameplay from any of these for at least another year.

I’m definitely not the biggest Xbox fan but Series X is my primary gaming console and I have had an excellent time playing the third party games on it for the last 4+ months but yeah, I do want to get an amazing exclusive game or two this year. I know Halo Infinite is a guarantee. I’m still hoping for Wolfenstein III to release this year but it seems unlikely at ths point but if it gets shown at E3 and says “2022” at the end of the trailer, I won’t be thrilled but I will be content.

Just have to wait and see how the showcase ends up being. Either way, I will be watching.

While I think you have the rest correct, you’re wrong about E3 2018 not having any gameplay. Cutscene starts the trailer which leads into gameplay. Trailer is about 12 minutes total with about 8 minutes of that being gameplay.

I prefer games to be revealed within two years of release. Going past that does get boring because it feels like the game is never getting released. Sony has shown a few games that were further out than two years but majority of them are usually within or around that two year window. Naughty Dog seems to get the most lead time which makes sense since Sony sees them as their top studio.

It also has to do with CONFIDENCE when Sony shows a game early. I’m 100% confident in Naughty Dog (despite not being a Druckmann fan at all), Santa Monica Studio, Sucker Punch, Insomniac Games (I believe Insomniac is Sony’s best and most efficient studio) and Guerrilla Games.

The reasons why are simple - Naughty Dog gave me an amazing Uncharted trilogy during PS3 and TLOU which was my 360/PS3 game of the generation. Santa Monica gave me my 2018 goty with God of War. Guerrilla gave my 2017 goty with Horizon Zero Dawn. Sucker Punch gave me my 2020 goty with Ghost of Tsushima. Insomniac gave me a great 8.5/10 in Ratchet & Clank 2016 and an excellent 9.0/10 in Spider Man 2018 followed by a great 8.5/10 with Miles Morales.

All my goty winners were a 9.5/10 for me. Simply the best of the best for last generation. Only The Witcher 3 surpasses them all in my rankings despite being a 9.5/10 as well.

I have literally no worries or concerns when it comes to those five first party studios from Sony because they’ve earned my confidence based on their past which has been highly consistent excellent games.

For Microsoft and Xbox, they just don’t seem to get it half the time and then they as well as other Xbox fans wonder why people like me get pissed off and disappointed. Another factor is that it doesn’t matter if you love/hate Sony’s first party games. Not a single person even the most hardcore Xbox fan can say with a straight face that when Sony shows a game even for the first time, that it looked bad or was disappointing. Outside of Days Gone, when was the last time that even happened? One out of ten games is no big deal but with Microsoft, it’s the opposite, you get maybe one great showing out of ten games.

It’s also when you see their reveal for Halo Infinite. Like, if that’s how they treat and showcase their FRANCHISE, im sorry but how can anyone have confidence in anything else that they show after seeing that?

Also, having different art styles is great and whatnot but they need to give me some realistic looking excellent playing fucking AAA bangers. I’m expecting Fable to be realistic ala The Witcher 3 but superior. If I see that game looking like Fable Legends, im going to be pissed off because it’s like, you have all this fucking tech, all this fucking power and this is what you’re giving me???

Sorry for the profanity but man, I will never ever understand how a trillion dollar company has all these issues when it comes to their first party games. I just don’t get how it’s even possible. Sony also always seems to be better prepared and have things planned out. I know people keep saying Covid-19 as a reason and yeah, it is a reason but it’s hard to accept that reason when you see Sony releasing three exclusives at launch with the PlayStation 5 followed by Returnal and Ratchet in a few weeks while on the other side, Microsoft had just one game planned - Halo Infinite and it all blew up in their face.

That’s honestly why a lot of gamers including me are critical of Microsoft and Xbox because it seems at times like they’re poorly mismanaged and don’t have a clue to what is the most important aspect of their eco-system - EXCLUSIVE GAMES.

Sorry for the long rant but when I argue with my friend about PS5/XSX, his argument is Sony gave me Miles, Returnal and I have Ratchet. If he had an XSX and no PS5, his response would be, WTF am I playing on this console? I didn’t spend $500 to play years old games. And I can’t say multi-platform games because they’re obviously on PlayStation 5.

In that regard, I can’t argue with him because I know he’s right. That’s why if a lot of their exclusives have been in fact pushed back a year or whatever it is, it’s like man, same shit, different generation when it comes to Microsoft’s first party studios and games. UGH. SMH.

I pretty much responded to this above but again, the main issue is that when it comes to the first party studios, Sony (and Nintendo for that matter) are for the most part and majority of the time, proven to be great or better. Microsoft simply isn’t close to their level. The Coalition is the closest in this regard and even then, they will never surpass the original Gears of War epic games trilogy. They’re just not which is why so many want them to move on to something new because they’ll always be in Epic’s shadow in this regard.

The reason why many including myself have high expectations in general with Microsoft and Xbox is because they nail everything except for what matters the most which is exclusive games, mainly from their first party studios. That’s why it’s so disappointing sometimes because it’s like, they’re right there, you know, but yet they can’t cross the finish line and it’s like, oh well, maybe next time. After a while though, people simply stop caring about next time.

When I see and play Sony’s first party games, I know im in for a special ride. I never get that feeling from Microsoft’s first party games. Sadly, it just never happens. Just watching Ratchet from a year ago, it’s like holy shit!! That’s going to be amazing. Even Nintendo gives me that feeling of “im in for a special treat” like playing BOTW and coming out the cave when Link wakes up and you walk outside to the top of the mountain you’re on and you just see the entire world and it’s like, oh man, this is going to be special. And I don’t even are about Nintendo and quit BOTW after 20 hours but the point is that even Nintendo can make me feel like im playing a special game yet Microsoft literally has never made me feel that way when I watch their trailers or more importantly, when I sit down to play their games.

Sorry for the long post but what can I say? It’s how I feel and how I see it because im going based on what Microsoft has done and shown me in the past. And every year I think could be the year they blow me away, it just never happens so after a while, it’s like meh, whatever it is, it is.

Using Days Gone as the metric that Xbox supposedly can’t reach?

Yea I actually wonder if 343 devs told them ahead of time that hey we aren’t ready can you delay the game so we can make the game that fits our vision Someone high up said no we need it at launch show gameplay and look what happened thankfully game was delayed and by the screenshots looks hell of a lot better and what I expected before the july demo and this is coming from someone who has watched the demo so many times because the gameplay itself looks like a lot of fun it was just the visuals that people had a problem with ever noticed that people only focused on the visuals they didn’t say shit about how it played or the story that 343 is setting up nope people only really care about visuals and with people from coalition I expect the final version of infinite to look gorgeous Any way thanks for coming to my Ted talk

You’re partially right, because you cannot not take in consideration dev time: H5 was shipped on 2015, 5 years (now 6) to make a AAA fps is (much) more than enough, add to this the name of the series, you have to deliver, I’m sure top management is payed weel enough. Then let’s see how much better The Coalition did with less funds, devs and time…or Playground…imo the biggest culprits are 343 higher ups in this situation.

Actually I remember hearing that development didn’t start immediately after 5 released cause remember they were doing dlc for 5 for about 1 to 2 years

This can be applied to 90% devs team on Earth, 343 management screwed up, I don’t blame Phil for wanting an Halo game for console launch after 5 years since the last main installment.
