Well now you just gave me the idea to role play as Jake Peralta in Outer Worlds 2.
Now I just have to make my character look as close to Andy as I can, he wonāt look anything like him with how bad my character creator skill is.

For anyone wondering why a hybrid Xbox is on the cards (beyond increasing the amount of games on Xbox), Steam has added 10m users in 2 years - which means if Xbox can give a console experience with BC on a PC they may hit a winning comboā¦
Also, nearly 42m users on at the same time yesterday is likely a far higher concurrent count than PlayStation or Nintendo, and really shows the change in the landscape - PC is one of the few areas of gaming still growing strongly

Go for it! I just realized the Outer Worlds 2 is launching close to Halloween, so you could role play the entire play through as some intergalactic Halloween Heist!!

I tapped out and sold my series x and my elite series 2
I just donāt see the point of investing any further in the eco system.
If they come out with that hybrid / pc console and itās successful Iāll come back but Iām in the wait and see approach right now. If itās a $1,000 item I might as well just get a pc at that point to compliment my ps5.

Thatās interesting. I wonder if this will signal any big changes in the direction of the series. I do feel like even though the individual games are good to great, AC has struggled to maintain narrative momentum as a series since like Revelations probably.
I donāt play enough Assassinās Creed to know what the narrative disconnect is, but I always thought the conclusion to the Desmond parts of the story kind of dislodged future stories away from the original narrative.
Thatās exactly it. After Desmond, the overarching storyline has become completely disjointed. Every new game drops what the previous one established and goes in a different direction, then the next one drops that newer direction too.
It seemed like the end of Valhalla introduced a major new focus for the story, but naturally Shadows hasnāt mentioned it.

I wonder if they just found it difficult to have to adhere to a certain story point and needing to build part of their games around it. Because it does feel like after Desmond, if they wanted to continue the story they should have regulated a sizeable side content to it in each game while still telling their story in the main content.

Part of it is definitely that theyāve reduced the amount of modern day story thatās actually depicted in the game, so it feels like a lot of stuff happens offscreen and youāre just told about it, which never feels good. Also, since they started having time pass in āreal timeā in the series, which IMO was a big mistake, they canāt have the next game begin right where the previous one left off. Itās always āHereās whatās happened to Layla in the past two years since you last saw her.ā
But more than anything else they just need a story group with the authority to coordinate the same story threads among all these different dev teams.
Think theyāve reduced the modern day parts though as they were by far the worst element, disliked by so much of the community as poor instant-fail stealth missions or just boring / illusion breaking - often occurring as they were just getting into the main story.
Iāve played practically every game, and while the Animus was a cool concept and acts as a great way to link the series together, the āgodlike beingsā element always felt a bit forced and silly - while I enjoyed the āwow whatās this almost alien constructā bit in the games as a sci-fi fan, in reality most players are enjoying the historical settings and probably donāt care.
So Iām not sure weāll see too much overarching narrative in future either, beyond what we currently have in live service elements and optional side missions or DLCā¦
After the new SpongeBob demo I got in the mood for more 3D platforming.
Bought Battle for Bikini Bottom and itās lovely at 4K/60fps and once again auto HDR is great. I truly wish all those other games out there that have bad HDR implementation would use auto HDR.
