On Switch and Switch 2.
Does anyone here thinks we will ever see the likes of Live A Life Remake or Dave The Diver on xbox?
I was kinda let down that neither really shown up at tgs, although we did get monster hunter stories and romancing saga 2.
AND PC! Downloaded the update on Steam from Early Access. I just need some free hours to finish. I already maxed upgrades during early access. Man itâs so great. I did my first run post 1.0 and SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER (jokes aside, Iâve been loving it. Hopefully it comes to Xbox soon enough, but how I guess for now any Xbox Ally buyers can look forward to it).
Knowing the internet? Probably not. People act like theyâd prefer more walled gardens and Xbox hasnât been moving in this direction since their first Xbox Play Anywhere game and when they started day and date PC.
Triangle Strategy was one I didnât expect, but here we are. Itâs more or less never say never at this point.

Not liking this being higher than previous leaks, but I guess it will be confirmed soon.
Ouch. Iâm scared to look at the price in Canada
If this is the price I guess itâs because it looks like a good price compared to the Legion 2.
But imo this maybe a niche device that wonât move move to the Xbox fans, because it lacks BC with current Xbox and likely will never have it.
Real price and yeah, imo, this isnât getting many Xbox fans to want to even try it. Niche on arrival.
Edit: Also want to push up my 899 estimate for entry for next gen to 1200.
I guess itâs really good compared to the Lenovo Legion Go 2, like the X is still $400 cheaper than the premium 2 model. But I donât think the primary audience will be anyone but early adopters and enthusiasts. Which granted is the whole handheld PC market. Lenovo Legion Go 2 orders far exceeded what Lenovo projected and prepared, so the ROG Xbox Ally will probably do well within its niche.
Iâm not looking to upgrade handhelds until next year or later, so Iâm good either way. Just hope the Xbox Full screen experience is coming sooner than expected to non ROG devices.
I guess also to that point, this is still the PC market so new hardware comes like every year. This is basically the ROG Ally 2, so next year weâll be on third generation PC handhelds and then fourth and so on. Plus I imagine Microsoft is looking at more âXbox PCâ OEM partnerships. And the software will be coming to everyone.
I guess that Legion Go 2 preorders changed the calculus.
Or they just decided not to offload tariffs in weaker Xbox regions, since EUR price is 899. In my country, itâs slightly over $1000, a bit less than 899âŹ, and overall less than I originally expected, but I guess currency is doing well right now (and it would be nice for MS and Valve to notice, since regional pricing is whack, weâre not Switzerland).
EDIT: Seems one of the retailers jumped the gun with the price, but local EPR is still a bit below 899âŹ, assuming preorders wonât run out before payday.
EDIT2: I suppose PCs arenât under tarrifs in US, but still great price in EUR.
In the US the 2 X is only $100 than the 1 X when comparing within the Asus product line.
- The current ROG Ally X is $899.
- The new ROG Xbox Ally X is $999.
This is still a lot of money. Depending on your usage of said device and what you currently have, it might be worth waiting for a discounted recertified/open box âexcellentâ or âgoodâ BestBuy for $200 to $300 savings.
Yeah, its not bad within the market it actually exists in. Most grumblings I see are from people treating this device as being in the console market (comparisons to switch 2 or the Series S) and expecting subsidized pricing (though thatâs not really happening in the console market either right now ).
The whole point should be Xbox expanding more aggressively in a new market and reaching new audiences while increasing the value of the overall ecosystem. Speaking of the ROG Xbox Ally X is already sold out on the Microsoft Store page. Not sure about overall, but it looks like pre-orders are already exceeding expectations like the Legion Go 2. Itâs a nascent market for enthusiasts, but I guess thatâs the point and growth is showing. I still personally have the Legion Go 1 and wonât be looking upgrade until 2026 or 2027. And I imagine the market wonât start to trickle down to casuals until then minimum. But I also think Xbox will keep expanding with more OEMs and thereâs the big main Xbox console and maybe we finally see those cloud focused devices like project keystone. Hopefully expanding into new markets helps them grow the Xbox ecosystem user base. Those numbers a while ago about console users are pretty concerning. Things are stable, but a business (especially a platform) needs to grow to survive.
Now that I think about it, the base model being only $150 more than the Switch 2 is crazy. Even ignoring performance, just with the amount of games available on PC, multiple storefronts, and free paid online/cloud saves the value definitely exceeds the price difference. Of course people can and should buy what they want, but I wish frame of thinking would also take into account the cost of gaming on a console vs PC. You could also get a mouse and keyboard and use the Xbox Ally as a productivity machine or do anything with it because itâs a PC. A console is more limited and has a more expensive closed ecosystem, and the starting price difference is only $150. Not a bad deal if youâre only a PC gamer and you already know all this. The hard part with reaching existing console gamers (probably the most difficult) and new gamers is explaining the difference in value.
They really need those AMD chips with BC on all of the devices before I can consider investing that kind of money though. Really hoping they come in soon enough as Iâd pay the 1300$ CAD for the X if I could play all of my library natively on the device, especially if ASUS also came up with an external GPU for home use that also supports BC so that you wouldnât even need to own 2 different devices for home and on the go.
I wonder how many they had available in the US for pre-orders but I guess itâs a good sign for now and hopefully also a sign for other OEMs to jump on the Xbox bandwagon!
Prices in AUD
ROG Xbox Ally $999.00
ROG Xbox Ally X $1,599.00
You and me both. I bought my Legion Go to get more into PC gaming and thatâs how I treat it, but if it were just a companion device to my Xbox then it just wouldnât be worth what I paid for it. I can remote play from any device. I can cloud game from any device. XPA is a nice bonus on top of me already enjoying PC gaming and itâs great how it can expand my Xbox ecosystem. But like right now my most played game on my Legion Go is Hades 2, and then I also enjoy playing games like Deep Rock Survivors (blanking on the name), my XPA copy of Metaphor, and my XPA copy of Like a Dragon Infinite wealth.
I think thatâs fair though. I encourage and welcome Xbox expanding the ecosystem to new markets through OEMs in PC and technically cloud (like the meta headset), and maybe down the line weâll see more like in mobile (if they ever get that mobile game store they want). Thatâs all great for gamers in those markets who never even considered Xbox before. Itâs even better when we can all benefit from through stuff like XPA.
But Xbox still needs to sit at the center of it all with their own hardware that carries us (existing gamers) forward with their vision. Really what I want to see is them build the pipeline for OEMs and get those going without as much effort on their end, and then Xbox hardware teams can continue to focus on delivering the best core Xbox experience. On top of backwards compatibility, the Series S and X are just engineering marvels; I donât want Xbox to stop putting out great hardware. To me it makes sense to let OEMs exist in those spaces Xbox canât easily reach and use them to expand to new markets, but keep the core experience in house in whatever form factor that takes (traditional console or hybrid PC).
Bowser already retiring
I do feel the price will come down maybe at least for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. If they are not interested in subsidizing, then I think they should bring the All-Access program back for it or partner with the phone companies.
Itâs sold out pretty much everywhere apparently. So the enthusiast, and scalpers too probably, jumped on it immediately.
How many they made, is not something we know though. But Imo, less than what the Switch 2 sold is a good estimate.
