XboxEra Community Hangout |OT13| The Bakers Dozen

Too few people know about Play Anywhere. The message needs to be like crystal clear though as we are already seeing people thinking the handheld can play Xbox games! It might in the future, but expectations needs to be set so people don’t have a bad experience and run away. But new players in the ecosystem might see the appeal of seeing Xbox being the only place with a license giving you access to your game on different devices!

Nice. I was hoping it’s pretty good. I enjoyed the manga/anime.

I’ve never seen it before but now I kinda want to watch it. But I had the same with Sand Land. It was a bit of a dillema because that game also told the same story as the anime, and it’s a bit of a bummer to know the full story already when playing the game, and vice versa, lol.

It does need some work in the framerate department though. It’s inconsistent. One moment is super smooth, the other it’s choppy as can be. If they iron that out on time I might get it.

350-450€ legion go/ally/steamdeck/gaming handled starts to become a recurring sale offer in Europe

I wonder if in 2-3years large public will partially choose gaming handled rather than 700€ ps6 (or Xbox console- pc)

It will certainly depends on the ability of steam and Microsoft to make a easy to use dedicated os

Yep I’ve seen the confusion from some, although in urgent years at least most games are on PC (apart from GTA6 initially I guess but Rockstar are twats) and most even on the Xbox PC store itself, and all first party has been for a while - and the quoting of the number of games supported should hopefully make users realise not every game is cross save and cross progression.

Plus with PCs are becoming much more plug and play - modern games self-select settings (often offering default performance or graphics modes like consoles do) so given the streamlined OS on the new handheld it should be a pretty good experience until the full experience comes.

I guess at that point they’ll have a way to play Xbox games - maybe emulation layer (for older games) and a DirectX API / translation or virtual container to run One / Series games, and maybe even backport it to the Ally too given it’ll be likely software layer.

If I’d not built a new PC recently I have to admit I’d be strongly tempted by the new handheld, although might have waited for the full fat Xbox version…

Really crazy to think Sony still doesn’t have an official Refund policy on their PlayStation games store.

It goes hand in hand with establishing for Xbox gamers that their purchases will go with them to PC and the next iteration of Xbox hardware (basically a PC). I imagine we’re going to see it a lot over the next few years until it’s a moot point.

I know soon Game Pass will increase its price especially with price adjustment in recent event, but I haven’t been a member in a long time. This would push me further away.

To be fair, you can get some pretty good discounts on PS+ yearly subs (Days of Play, Black Friday.) I think I’m paying about €8.50 a month for the Premium tier.

A post was split to a new topic: [WH40K Space Marine 2 hits 7 million players]
A post was split to a new topic: [RAIDOU Remastered gets a launch trailer]

Might be a good idea to have threads for “Player Milestones” and “Launch Trailers” (or something along those lines) to collect these type of posts.

I feel like everything being dumped in the Community Hangout is too much. But at the same time there won’t be enough discussion for every single game individually. So themed threads could be a good middle ground?

Just thinking out loud…

I get it, but it’s a platform choice. If I prefer elsewhere, this wouldn’t apply to me that much. I’ll give Nintendo a credit, the online play is very cheap. Not to mention, they at least have exclusive online games like Mario Kart and Splatoon, which I do play. It’s probably why Sony is very frustrated with lack of large portion of online play revenue and rely on shared ones like Fortnite.

I also saw this, but yeah, Sony/he says a lot. Companies always do.

We might not be there yet with day and date releases for every single game by them for PC, but they will get there.

Bet they would be considering deeper with Xbox’s plan. Maybe they want their own launcher down the road.

The whole Mindseye situation is sad because there is a good story there, interesting characters, great cutscenes and the driving seems like it’s enjoyable as well. But it’s lacking some truly basic stuff even San Andreas does have.

I also recall that at some point this was a totally different game but then they changed it into a SP game, something along those lines. I wonder if it can be “saved” via patches.

It doesn’t sound like Cyberpunk scenario where that game is legit great from get go but hindered by bugs, while this game sounds like it’s hindered by design and bugs. IGN was going all in on the review to the point it felt like a Youtuber creator review with comedy skit and references. I have no idea what went wrong or what IO saw in it.

that ‘some point’ was probably when their funding (they got over 300 million dollars) ran out to make Everywhere and they scrambled to release something.

I just hope IOI as the publisher is not affected too much by this failure.

My brother worked on the game for years, and when he showed me what he was working on, it was most definitely not a single player shooter.

This is pretty interesting, JorRaptor posted an apology video for doing a MindsEye sponsored preview video, and is even offering to reimburse his viewers if they bought the game on his recommendation. I watched the sponsored video, I would call it “tentatively positive” in tone, not necessarily a full throated recommendation but you could tell he was being as generous as possible since it was a sponsored video.

That’s why I hate pretty much all influencers. None of them are usually frank and just push a product because they are paid to do so and fear losing access to this revenue stream if they try to tell the truth about something.

If it wasn’t for this game receiving backlash all over the place, I would bet he wouldn’t be doing this. If the game is crap it’s crap, and if you lose some sponsorships due to this, then this is something you should accept as not doing so is very unethical and this is the kind of stuff that really influences kids these days. I’m a 40 year old man, I know they pretty much all bullshit in the name of money, but younger people for some reason don’t see it this way.
