Man, I don’t think we can deny that the gaming media does in fact treats companies differently, I remember the Xbox One debacle being a much bigger scandal than what’s currently going on with Nintendo, Doug Dowser pulled a Don Mattrick and it doesn’t seem to matter as much but I guess we’ll see once it comes out, I don’t know how 80-90$ games prices will be received in this moment.
Lol the way US bonds are going and with China not backing down, it’s more how much you’ll have to barter for Switch 2 games rather than dollars
“I’ll give you 2 eggs and a toilet paper for the new Donkey Kong game”
Still no idea how on earth they’re going to release it in the US if the stock isn’t already in country unless these deals start getting done very very fast…
Nintendo chose the worst possible timing for a new console rollout. Microsoft and Sony have got to be relieved that they are in a position to let the dust settle for a while before committing to any new console plans. I for one would not mind if this turmoil ends up extending the lifespan of the Series X.
I see the thread is deleted because hope is dead. By that, I mean this:

Agreed. I’m expecting Fable to be the Direct in June 2026. Was expecting it this year but since it was delayed, im now expecting it to be next year.
Appears I spoke too soon (or I’m magic lol, more likely the bonds spooked even the orange twat) - the 90 day pause apart from 10% on everyone and crazy on China might be enough for Nintendo to rush as much as they can in, and 10% probably within their predictions assuming the Switch 2 is still assembled in Vietnam and not China.
Guessing we might hear pre-orders back on from tomorrow - but after the initial stock goes if the tariffs come in in full after 90 days Nintendo won’t restock until a deal is done…
After burning 11 trillion dollars with tariffs and getting China to devalue the dollar. I would expect the Switch 2 to still get a moderate price hike.
I imagine there is still enough instability and logistical alterations that need to take place that opening pre-orders isnt imminent. I would assume they will need to assess how much stock they can get into North America in the next 90 days, and possibly altering production/shipping so that all Vietnamese produced units are being funneled to North America, that pre-orders will likely come closer to when Nintendo was going to start their own (May 8th)
Which is fine with me, I only get paid once a month, so waiting longer means more flexible budgeting.
I imagine everything will - retailers will need to build in a chaos margin to cope with the insane swings day to day in policy.
Yep imagine it’s not that easy but yeah they’ll try and rush as much stock in as they can while they still can.
It’s a truly nuts situation, as @SheepDip said it’s probably the worst time to try and launch a console…
Commandos feels right and has a decent-enough look but it needs a patch.
Am in the tutorial and:
- the mini map has glitched
- explosions are invisible
- the gamepad vibrates madly on a quick load
- the viewcones have simply stopped working. That’s kind of an issue…
Really annoying.
Well I think they are right. They need their PC store to become active where people buy games. It seems people mainly use the PC Xbox app for Game Pass. If it had as much engagement as the console. 30 to 40 million buying and using the services that would be great. I hope this Kennen handheld ignites the store and helps ushers in developers.
Then again tomorrow we could hear the pause is off for everyone and they’re all at 100%. You really can’t predict anything with this calamity.
Same here, I wish platform holders would stick with the current gen consoles for a longer period of time…with what is going on in the world right now it may indeed turn out that way.
Consoles are more than capable for some really great results in terms of visuals/performance, budgets are already really big so we don’t need even bigger ones, let the engines mature and the developers to take advantage of the hw’s capabilities/better optimize their games. As Jon said many many times in the podcasts graphics are already good enough so the industry should focus more on creativity and fun and less on worthless time/money consuming fidelity.
Staying with the current gen consoles for 4-5 more years instead of 2-3 sounds like a win-win situation for me.
I think it’s in Microsoft’s best interest to roll out their new platform. If it was iterative I’d agree but in their case it’s presumably coming with pretty big changes that are necessary to compete.
