Those are three chonky games that might last you all of 2025.
Personally - even though SMT is more complete on the X i bought it at release on the Switch and like the fact the āpureā version is on this system. I know you chose Metaphor, and itās an excellent choice, but SMTV is one of the best rpgs on this gen. The vibe is just on point and has always been like that since my first one: Nocturne on the PS2. Get it and play it one day old boy!
If you have other platforms, thereās a SMTVV demo that was released a few months after release on PS5/4 and Steam if you wanted to try that out as well, athough yeah Metaphor is definitely more story focused.
Seeing that Grummz is back in conversation⦠this is something I have been meaning to post. This is a great (if long) critique of Stellar Blade, but trigger warning, it does have discussion of Grummz. Very good essay on how not original Stellar Blade is.
(Also side-discussion on Hades.)
I finished Hogwarts Legacy yesteday, i just bought Metaphor and am already excited.
This, Death Stranding, the last Apollo Justice game and the occasional Balantro or Sifu in between and am set for the next three months.
Doing a giveaway for AC Shadows on Xbox here. Would love to do it on the forum but I donāt have a plug-in that automates it like on Discord. Join the server and go into the #giveaways channel, all can enter!
I loved Stellar Blade who who ever said that it was original? I get massive Nier Automata vibes when I played it especially the music soundtrack.
33 immortals Tomorrow.
Heās wrong, itās not on PC. You get console and cloud and thatās it.
Some of these Shadows reviews lol. āI loved everything about the game but Assassinās Creed is an industry whipping boy so 8/10.ā
Review scores these days depend more on the public narravtive/discourse/hype and also partly trying to fall in line with the expected Metacritic scores so as to not be an outlier and catch flak for it.
Like @Doncabesa says reviews have become incredibly predictable you can guess the score with high confidence, very rarely will you get an outlier. Reviewers are essentially playing a guessing game to see if the quality fits it line with existing narrative, it will take something really exceptional to change their minds.
Capcom could have launched the buggiest, terribly optimised Monster hunter and you could still bet it would score high 80-90, because CapGod can do no wrong for the gamers currently.
AC shadows was never going to be a 90 rated game. A Ubisoft game will be rated lower than a similar game from say Sony, until they change how people view them. Gamer clout is worth a lot.
