I put a comment on the Windows Central article, as that’s definitely dodgy behaviour by the developer - I don’t usually believe in conspiracy theories but the amount of developers pulling weird crap now it feels like someone’s pulling the strings.
In reality though I’m guessing Xbox is just a useful punching bag for everyone at the moment who’s wanting free press or an excuse
It wouldn’t be a bad thing if Jez did some proper digging.
Weren’t there also some strange issues with that Haak game?
What I don’t get though is, what does it benefit them from doing this? The logo was in the new trailer. There isn’t enough attention to the game and by throwing Xbox under the bus they do get it? Hope it gets cleared up soon. After the new trailer my focus isn’t much on this game, but I don’t want to see this become a repeating pattern.
That “The XBX version of the game performs better than the PS5 version” statement makes this even more suspicious IMO. I mean what dev even says that, especially when they are apparently having trouble communicating with Xbox? Combined with they cancelled the Xbox version before to focus on PC/PS5 performance? Saying you need to focus on PS5 performance so you cancel the Xbox version, only for the Xbox version to pop back up later and still outperform the PS5 version is certainly something.
Sounds more like they are having trouble keeping their story straight to me.
This is a similar story to HAAK, though that one turned out to be complete bullshit as the dev had disbanded 6 months before someone complained on social media. I don’t see why the CEO would lie about this though, issue is today is a national holiday in the US so I’m sure they’ll figure it out tomorrow.
That whole thing seems odd to me. So it was cancelled for Xbox 5 months ago so they could focus on ps5 and all of a sudden it’s ready to go and runs better then the PS5 version?
I don’t know how the process works. I think in theory they tried to make it as most secured though seems like it’s having own issue. I don’t know. I guess they want to avoid green lighting Abandoned. Still don’t know how they got in.
Great to see the gaming media doing zero due diligence and fanning the flames of this story without tracking down this article and asking the developer about it.
Pretty much every site has a story about it now, plus a few have Phil’s “I passed on Guitar Hero” and Ybarra’s supportive noises towards PlayStation and exclusives in stories around it too.
I still hope / believe casuals don’t bother with any of that stuff so won’t be influenced - but it does feel the gaming media has really decided to go all out against Xbox recently even from supposedly pro-Xbox sites, a concerted campaign by people either wedded fully to the old way of doing things (which PS is just getting further and further ahead in) or who’ve never liked Xbox as it was the “upstart” with a rich daddy.
Most of the gaming media I get the feeling it’s the latter…
EDIT: Seems the developer did re-announce the Xbox version - although it shows it’s always been the lowest priority:
Yeah it’s a very annoying situation and hopefully not one that will repeat itself with other devs. If Id@Xbox is at fault here I hope they fix this ASAP, if true about two months silence, nobody can deny that’s just not good.
Yeah, if I know one thing for sure it’s that MS won’t let a similar situation happen with this. I mean nobody expected Wukong to sell that much and Enotria remains to be seen. But GTA 6 is a given it will sell insanely well.
This is the biggest press the game has gotten. That’s why this keeps happening. It’s free press. They probably just didn’t meet some requirement to post a store page, and refused to do so.
