I don’t know if we have discussed this but I loved the disclaimer at the beginning of the DD. It makes sense in the multiplatform Xbox era and clarifies focal points: Game Pass, Play Anywhere and Cloud Gaming.

I actually preferred NG4 look to NG2 black. There is just something about Unreal engine here that makes it look odd in some scenes.
Went with a friend to the Anime Dreamlight concert just now. It was held in a church and a man played anime music on piano. It was beautiful. Sadness and Sorrow from my favourite anime Naruto was played and man…the feels! I was so into the vibe I just didn’t want to grab my phone to record it.
I did make one of One Piece!
It was great. In October in my country the Zelda Orchestra will perform and I’m gonna make sure to go and see that.
One thing I will say, after getting sucked back into the world of Ninja Gaiden, is that I hope Platinum can match the technicality and complexity of the combat. None of their games are anywhere near as technical, though to be fair very few games in this genre are more than simple button mashers, so I hope with Team Ninja’s guidance they can match why these games were so difficult, and rewarding to those with the patience to get the systems down.
Of course they can match the technicality and complexity…games like Bayonetta, TW101, MGR: Revengeance, Vanquish (it’s mechanics are way deeper than most shooters) or even Astral Chain have a lot of depth and a lot of thought has being put into those combat systems. Ninja Gaiden plays differently than Platinum’s games sure but they made some of the best games in the character action genre so I am sure that they will do the series justice…well definitely more justice than what TN did with the IP after Itagaki left.
Also it’s a little unfair to call most games in the genre simple button mashers, the best games in the genre shine in the higher difficulties and there mashing buttons will result in getting destroyed quickly.
And since we are talking about NG it’s disappointing to see that Black 2 is based on the Sigma 2 version of the game…TN had a golden opportunity to make the ultimate version of NGII but they didn’t do it, at least (thanks to the amazing BC team of Xbox) the vanilla version of NGII looks and runs amazing on the Series consoles so at least there’s that.

Covers various topics, so I suggest to watch it as a whole.
I’ve played all of the games (and own them) from Platinum, and I’m sorry but there’s a reason most still consider NG Black the pinnacle of the genre. It might be a bit reductionist, but the simple fact is most of the games you mentioned aren’t nearly as difficult due to the near-frame-perfect response Ninja Gaiden demands. That’s not a knock on those games, I have and enjoy them all, but when I want a game that directly challenges my response time, those other games just don’t hold a candle
I think you took my original statement as saying I didn’t enjoy, appreciate, or understand those other games when that couldn’t be farther from the truth. There’s plenty of reason the genre has moved towards less difficult, but NG is one of the only games that sits on the difficulty throne without relying on constant, overly-cheap mechanics.
Agreed Ninja Gaiden especially Ninja Gaiden Black is in my opinion the absolute pinnacle of a fighting or hack and slash till this day. The depth of the combat the enemy AI was all top notch made me wish it was the one that was remade.

This has the potential to be one the most exciting things in gaming in a long time, Xbox + windows has always been the end goal and with next gen it might finally be happening.
I’m so happy to see all the twitter links are broken for me, means I don’t even have to bother checking them or even see what they’re about.
Holy shit Grim Dawn is finally on sale. Do yourself a favor and buy it while you can if your a fan of arpg games like Diablo and Path of Exile. The game has been on Xbox for years now and this is the first time it’s ever gone on sale im pretty sure.
2025 looks like a great year for Xbox - The Verge
Was checking out gaming leaks and rumors and this link to a paywall free piece by Tom Warren came up, it’s mostly just a quick recap imo.
Don’t get me wrong NGB is my favorite game in the genre too (I love NGII so much as well even with all it’s flaws) and sure there are enough reasons why it’s still being considered the best by many fans of the genre (level design, enemy AI, the way it handles the higher difficulties, the unique approach of the combat system e.t.c.). If we are talking about challenge NGB is among the top for sure but getting pure platinums at Bayonetta on NSIC (which makes using Dodge Offset a necessity) or just beating Vanquish on God Hard are no slouches either.
I think that what we saw of NG4 looked great and I want to believe that Platinum understands the legacy and characteristics of the IP and will give us a worthy sequel. They sure are talented and capable enough to deliver on that IMO, Phil and Team Ninja seem to believe that too.
To be honest I am really happy to see the series (and the genre to a degree) return! and by XBGP also too!
Not sure if this has been posted already, and Pure don’t give a source unfortunately (I’m guessing Xbox Wire) but glad to see Xbox doing this again and potentially having expanded it - it gives devs an award to trumpet and rewards their efforts, and can give some visibility to criminally under-appreciated games like my favourite, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden:
Really happy to see Dragon’s Dogma 2 and the Sega/Atlus rpg’s in there! I contributed in those engagement stats for Infinite Wealth, Metaphor and Dragon’s Dogma 2 too!
btw I have to get Banishers, I’ve read so many positive impressions for this game.
I think this is the announcement:
I like this.
An interesting view into making of ymfah’s content.
This one is how he gets around the absurd copyright claim that youtube has, mostly from people who make copyright claims without actually owning anything.
we did!
