Does anyone have experience using Gamepass on a Quest 3/3s? If so, would you suggest it?

Jez sometimes strikes me as writing based on emotion rather than analysis.

For example, suggesting Windows could come under threat from SteamOS is laughable - thereā€™s been a few million Decks sold compared to billions of Windows licences, and Windows plays every single game and almost all non-gaming software, and allows the whole ā€œI need it for school / workā€ excuse plus dominates the corporate world.

SteamOS has so many issues it needs to solve before it could become big, particularly around ease of use, the biggest online games and Windows compatibility - its mimicking of the Windows OS to all games and software would need to be practically perfect with no performance hit.

MacOS for decades has been trying to take share from Windows and itā€™s backed by a much bigger company than Valve, and while iOS / Android has in the mobile space, in truth the PC / laptop market is still dominated by Microsoft.

Same when he talks about Steam boxes under the TV or others coming for Microsoftā€™s lunch - I donā€™t think itā€™ll be as easy as some think as you donā€™t get to $3 trillion without being ruthless and adaptable.

However I do agree that if all Xbox and PC games were Play Anywhere and other stores were on Xbox and it can be as console-like or tweakable as you want, that could be a great future that leaves the competition scrambling to moderniseā€¦

Like FF7 and Balatro were forgotten this year? (Both released in February.)

Final Fantasy has a dedicated userbase who are highly passionate. Balatro is a game thats infinitely replayable and kept growing like a live game.

Is it possible Indy will get nommed? Yep.

Is it what drove their decision? Probs not but who knows.

MS saw how Sony was able to use their money from PS to make terrible spiderman movies that bomb and cost a ton, and said hey we can amp up gamepass with just a portion of that!

ā€œWho needs $70 games when you can play thisā€ is what big companies are likely thinking.

Iā€™m loving this special edition for Metaphor. Great when publishers donā€™t skip out on the physical version of their games on Xbox.

I picked this up this year as one of the only game purchases I made, and I canā€™t agree enough, it and the P3R special editions (which I also picked up) really knocked it out of the park. I understand some of why we donā€™t get as many of these but I genuinely miss seeing more Collectorā€™s Editions and LEs for console :frowning:

Going live

Originally, but there were reports months ago that Lord and Miller had been kicked off the project, so this shouldnā€™t be too surprising. Without knowing, Iā€™m guessing this is a Solo type situation, where some of the work Lord and Miller did will make it into the final film and these new guys wonā€™t have to start over from scratch.

Hopefully. The first two were both excellent, Iā€™d hate for them to fumble the third.

Gaming is getting less collector friendly with each gen seems like.

Now THAT is cool as all get out. Thatā€™s one thing Iā€™ve been thinking about with Starfield, how passage of time isnā€™t really impacting anything.

I know itā€™s basically not possible in that game, and I know thatā€™s always been the case with Bethesdaā€™s titles, but I guess maybe the fact that time passes at different speeds depending on your planet has brought it home a little more.

A couple of Unity jumps ago I had a mining operation going on Katydid III, a place with a 1:100 time difference with UT, and Iā€™d routinely take 4-5 hour naps there, sometimes several times in a row. Yet when I returned to my job at Ryujin, no one said anything about me having been gone a couple of weeks.

And as I said, it makes perfect sense that Bethesda couldnā€™t implement this level of time dilation fuckery, itā€™s just something thatā€™s stood out to me.

So to read that that is something they may be messing with in Exodus has me real interested in seeing what they can do with it.

Cool seeing "Time Dilation " will be incorporated into the gameplay. Seems like not a lot of space sci fi media really delve into this . The first time I even learned of it was when I watched ā€œGunbusterā€ the first time back in the day.

That, one would imagine, would be so hard to pull off in a game, but is a great example of where Starfield errs a little too much on the side of the conservative. Perhaps thatā€™s not really fair, given the scope of the game is vast, and many players would get really annoyed if this had any major impacts, but itā€™d feel really different.

It sounds to me more like, how traveling at or close to the speed of light causes time to slow down for the traveler but for everyone else itā€™s still passing normally. So, the person traveling can return 50 years later, while only experiencing 20 minutes worth of time while for everyone else itā€™s been 50 years.

The Starfield example doesnā€™t really line up because we and everyone else is experiencing the time, I think the closest thing is the experience someone posted about in Nosodiumstarfield. Where after multiple travels through the Unity they had become like the hunter, and one time while meeting with Constellation they met up with Starborn Andreja. Who according to them was their original Andreja, and working with House Muā€™leen to help them kill the members of Constellation in that universe and kill him.

So in that example Andreja and the Starfairer have been apart for years and multiple universes, with her changing to become a more fanatic House Vaā€™ruun follower. While the Starfairer would become like the hunter(another great example, as Aquilus and the Hunter are so many years apart and completely different people).
