yeah, it does seem like a tough sell because if people want the steam os they will want a deck. They’re better off focusing on windows since there’s a better chance for more sales due to ease of use with gamepass and other launchers. Maybe this gamble works, but I don’t think it’s that enticing

Other manufacturers update their hw much more often than valve, so if I were buying I’d definitely buy a non Valve one. There might be other reasons that people choose different hardware, like larger (or smaller) screens, larger batteries, detachable controllers, other different form factors.

Its just an OS, dunno why people would limit themselves strictly to one manufacturer.

Yeah, the Ally X is a decent step up over the Deck already and the gap is only going to get wider. My money is on a Windows handheld as it’s the best of all worlds - Linux dual boot, Steam offerings, emulation out the wazoo, and all the storefronts/GP at your fingertips… most of that might be possible with the Deck, but it’s a hell of a lot more effort.

I appreciate what the Deck did, but it’s hardly the right device for most people (obviously, otherwise it would be selling more).

It’s going to be a tough road ahead for them, this game at least from the reveal is only going to get more blasted as time goes on. I actually think we will get another trailer with a different character next year; it won’t surprise me if this game is based on multiple characters.

I don’t think it’s ridiculous name is helping engagement either, as a ND fan and someone who has posted multiple times about it I’m still sitting here trying to remember it’s title.

It was reposted by Xbox. Funny, because that character hasn’t touch Xbox platform.

Or will he???

I just can’t get excited about anything FF16, I think the most I saw was a trailer with some gameplay and I just…

Obsidian has been cooking, The Outer Worlds 2 next year? Did not expect that! Of course I always take possible delays into account. With any game.

Two new RGG games, I am not a big fighter fan but Virtua Fighter looks great. But especially that new IP has got my attention, oh yes!

And holy shit, Onimusha! And it’s not a remake, it’s a new one?

But wasn’t it said that there would be something about Wukong here? I kept hoping for finally an Xbox announcement but…nope, sigh.

Not good news.

Ryu Ga Gotoku is on fire, goddamn! That’s one studio you can depend on delivering games and never with incredibly long waits either.

Surprised me that Project Century didn’t have any platforms listed, VF neither iirc. They are probably 2026 at the earliest is my guess.

But I’m so happy RGG is on board with Xbox now, and I have no doubts these two games will be day one for us too.

Project Century looked like a pretty significant tech upgrade over their other games, so will be interesting to see where it lands. Definitely will no longer support Xbox One/PS4 though lol.

Capcom, Sega, and Xbox are carrying this gen.

In fairness, that’s not an equal comparison. One is a new IP while the other is the fourth installment of what is now massive franchise/IP. And has a remake of the first game in development.

It’s all going to come down to the combat/gameplay loop. It seems like Druckmann’s inspiration was Cowboy Bebop and Akira. Akira is fucking awesome but I have no idea what Cowboys Bebop is. lol

It’s a few years away so just have to wait and see but one thing im certain of - im way more hyped and excited for Intergalactic than I would have been for TLOU P3 which I know is coming but im happy to be getting this game first. Let TLOU IP take a break.

Akira and Cowboy Bebop are somewhat too old for today’s audience, I’m guessing their other protagonists in these game as I don’t think this one is resonating with the audience. Almost seems like Abby in Space.

It’s been a long time since I watched Akira but I remember that it was freaking awesome and im not an Anime guy at all. We’ll see. I’m just happy that it’s a new IP and wasn’t another Uncharted or TLOU game.

You should check out Cowboy Bebop (series first), it is right up there with Akira as a pillar of Anime.

I appreciate that Intergalactic is a hybrid of 80s aesthetics and futurism. I’m a huge sci fi fan and it isn’t really scratching my sci fi itch (which is ok). It’s like how Star Wars doesn’t scratch my sci fi itch because it’s akin to a fantasy setting in space. I still like SW.

That said, many of these “tone” trailers are really important to convey their universe and atmosphere but they do absolutely little to get me excited.

For me it’s the pedigree of Naughty Dog that has me interested. Though I don’t think the gameplay of their games to be particularly great, the storytelling, atmosphere and general polish help carry their games.

I also like that it’s a new IP.

Maybe I’m really out of touch but 90% of the trailers seem to be about IP I’m not very familiar with and the trailers would satisfy fans of those IP but did nothing to me. Like the Warframe trailer. It didn’t make me want to play the game. It’s quite popular and much of that has to do with its quality, yet I’m not compelled to download it.

Maybe I’m getting old and reductionist but in 90% of these trailers I see different characters hitting each other and shooting lasers from their hands at each other, punching each other, and shooting each other and I don’t know why.

With no motivations established and nothing at stake, it seems like it doesn’t matter who punches who more and wins at the end. So a ton of these trailers don’t do anything for me at all.

And I don’t think it’s a problem with the trailers I think it’s a me problem. These trailers are exciting a ton of people. I need to see gameplay. I need some context as to why this main character has to do what they are doing. But most people don’t seem to need this stuff spelled out to them. Maybe I’m getting pretty basic? I need things spelled out?

I remember being compelled by TLOU reveal trailer right off the bat. I don’t know how this will do and by that, I mean commercial success. I think the quality will be great as usual, but first impression is made and some gave up already. TLOU advantage was zombie craze was still huge, tone resonates the desire of gamers, and it was an immediate follow-up from their last success, Uncharted 3. This game is probably going to need a lot of marketing of its developer and make it look like a new Marvel franchise.

I am not sold on the new crew just yet, but this is good.
