Hereâs my take: make up your own damn mind because itâs on Game Pass. In all seriousness, the massive issues I have with group think, the media overall, and the lack of media literacy, all point me to that same conclusion. Perhaps itâs one of the many reasons reviewers/media have gone after Xbox so hard: Game Pass, and its main draw of giving gamers the ability to try out games for themselves and come to their own conclusions, makes reviewers like this wholly irrelevant and unnecessary.
New Year Resolution: Complete backlog!
Finally in!
Even though the game wasnât for me, but High On Life is the perfect example of that. The reviews for it wasnât hot, but the game being on gamepass allowed gamers to form their own opinion. The positive word of mouth made the game rise above the metacritic.
This and always this⌠Game pass and outside of game pass, there have been many games with mediocre reviews that I absolutely loved. I stand by that reviews donât matter much if at all for me,
I see that Indiana Jones is in the top 10 global top seller list on Steam
Nah Marvel ripped off Overwatch down to Hanzoâs rng arrows
Must resistâŚ
Which is why Microsoft should stop giving out review codes to anyone. With Game Pass, no one needs reviews because you can play the game yourself for a fraction of the cost of buying the game.
This 100%. Reviews donât matter to me either.

Marvel fans, better pray for Switch 2 for March release.
Iâll say this until Xbox folds and no longer exist but another EA/Sega/etc aka no platform, just publisher:
Xbox is the unsung hero we need.
It feels like PureXbox have realised theyâre getting more traffic from PushSquare drive-bys than Xbox fans (as most of us have got sick of the negative comments on every article, plus articles designed to feed them).
Their Stalker 2 review was way below everyone else, seemingly written by someone whoâs never played the original or likes the genre, and now theyâre far below the average score for Indy too.
Theyâve also randomly ordered the Indy âreview round upâ page, whereas they usually order it most positive to least positive - itâs silly but it feeds a narrative when the first set of reviews you see give an impression itâs a mixed bag when actually most big sites are highly rating it (as usual, they donât bother including XboxEra in the round up lol).
It just feels like theyâve realised the money is in ragebait for PS fans and disaffected Xbox gamers - which sucks as itâs the loss of another moderate, sensible Xbox siteâŚ
IGN with a 9 eh? Usually they are so fond of 7s, so this is interesting!
End of the day only one thing matters though,âŚyour own experience.
Preach brother! GP takes away some of the power that reviewers have over this industry and this is exactly why some of them hate it with a passion.
If a game looks interesting to me I will play it no matter what and I will not give a F about high scoring games that look boring and dull. Iâve been burned more times regretting buying âuniversally acclaimedâ games than more divisive or lower scoring titles.
About Indy it looks great fun and I canât wait to play it, 2024 in general has being a great year in terms of software for Xbox/Game Pass IMO.
I look at the list of the highest rated games of all times and of the ones rated 95+ I despised at least half of when I played them
Well at least Jason Schreier wonât accuse Xbox sites of boosting the reviews now, will he?
John gets it! I am so relieved that many people are recognizing this, this is a brand of game design thatâs not seen anymore, especially not in AAA. The levels of âIâm so glad this existsâ are so incredibly high.
Such a shame it wonât ever be nominated for the Jan-Oct Game Awards!
