I’m so hyped for Avowed.

I haven’t seen anything, but if the brainrot crowd is offended, that’s just plain funny.

100%, I love my PC (it’s effectively 30 systems in one), my point was simply that pretending there aren’t disadvantages/downsides to PC gaming is disingenuous is all.

And honestly this applies to all platforms, having owned and played on all of them since the 360 gen, while I always had a preferred platform, they all have advantages and downsides to them, I value having them all if for nothing but change every now and then. I understand people who want the everything console/PC, but I truly believe there is inherent value in having multiple platforms giving you different things you appreciate about each, even different storefronts on the same PC, that keeps things more exciting, but I’m probably in the minority

Which is precisely my point; there is no perfect solution. There are just solutions that work better for some over others, ad infinitum.

Just going to say if Musk and Avellone are taking issue with Avowed, I’m just going to buy Avowed even harder.

Yep one thing I prefer on console is just having to check a game’s price on the Xbox store or CDKeys, and know both have very good discounts regularly.

On PC, there’s often 10 to 15 stores worth checking for big games (publisher stores, stores like Steam, GoG and Epic, key sellers like Humble, CDKeys, Instant Gaming and Fanatical) so while you can often save more (not always, some of the Xbox sales recently have beaten PC!) it’s such a pain to shop around as even the price tracker sites rarely cover everything or are fully up to date.

Worse, Steam is the de facto but while its sales used to be legendary, nowadays it’s the same discounts every time and only a few really good ones - most are permanently cheaper elsewhere (although annoyingly some games are Steam only and no keys elsewhere - and one I wanted didn’t go on sale this time despite being in the last 6 major sales over the last 18 months lol).

Epic have stopped doing coupons which used to make their sales cheaper than elsewhere, GoG is great for really old stuff but rarely has decent offers on new stuff (but can have them on key sites) and Fanatical / Instant Gaming only best CDKeys on their star deals sometimes.

So CDKeys and Humble, alongside the ever brilliant Game Pass (with EA Play) have supplied much of my library - the former as it’s nearly always the cheapest, the latter with insanely good value bundles plus offering member discounts on top of sales (which made it the cheapest by far to finally pick up FF16, Alan Wake 2 and 1 Remastered plus Life is Strange Remastered).

But even knowing that, my brain still likes to double check elsewhere, it’s exhausting lol - swear I’ve spent longer hunting discounts since upgrading my PC than actually playing games on it!

So instead I settle down to yet another Powerwash Simulator DLC paid for by Xbox Rewards and let my Series X make it all better lol

Agreed, I have noticed those culture warrior weirdos who always say “you can’t say anything without someone getting offended” are actually allowed to say it, then are actually the ones who super offended by someone saying something about them / a situation and demand boycotts and legal action…

Poor little snowflakes, it seems they’re really thin skinned…

While I do think this avowed discourse is silly the developer should be fired. Saying you’re openly gonna favor someone over skin color is racist no matter who it is. Do I think the pronoun stuff is gonna hurt the game? No. It didn’t bother me with dragon age either

While I’ve not gone too much into this as if Musk takes a position I can guarantee I’m on the opposite side as he’s become an edgelord knob, I will say there is a benefit to having a diverse team.

One example is the huge number of PR disasters that have befallen games where they’ve used a name or image that is highly offensive in another country, often tanking sales in some of their target markets - developers from / versed in other cultures may have prevented that.

A wide team can also help bring different artistic views and problem solving skills - for example a lot of people are complaining about UE5 games all looking alike, well having a diverse team can help bring a wider variety of styles and colour palettes from their experiences that can reinvigorate it.

It can also help lead to whole new gameplay dynamics - Unpacking and Viewfinder, two of my favourite games of recent years, both bring new ways of telling their story and new gameplay mechanics, and both were developed by diverse teams…

My understanding is they were talking about voluntarily reviewing and providing feedback on people’s portfolios rather than anything related to a hiring process.

I am sure that if anything truly untoward happened, the people who actually know the situation will take appropriate action. (And honestly probably already would have.)

On a happier note, the PSPortal makes way more sense to me if its testing out “do people want to stream PS5 games” and then you do a 2nd gen with PS4 games native

Looks good but kind of drab at the same time. The art direction is the best part of C0 2077. This just makes it look realistic. I dunno, maybe I have to see some night time footage.

I remember how people thought Body Cam game (I think that’s what it called) was fake because of design, only for dev shows the BTS clip.

That’s true, it’s especially the ultra realistic part for me. I for sure as hell would try this stuff out if I was still a pc gamer, man I do wish I was. But I just…am not.

You are correct, it’s the latest grifter rage-bait target and I feel sorry for the people that fall for it.
