People only care once they see the outcome of studios being closed. So many happily bashed Redfall and then acted shocked when the studio was shut down.
Itâs all an extension of the console war stuff. Xbox fans hope Playstation doesnât get a win, Playstation fans hope Xbox doesnât get a win.
If anything good comes out of this multi platform stuff it will hopefully be a renewed focus on software over us vs them antics.
Yeah, that was the game I was alluding to in my post. Then even something like Hellblade where people are posting steam ccu for a single player game thatâs on gamepass to dunk on it. Then it was reveleaed the studio has been profitable. Plus, constant talk if that studio is going to close and whatnot.
Hopefully, both sides calm down with steam ccu and not try to use it to dunk on a game. I feel with many different storefronts and whatnot we donât know the full story for a lot of these games.
Itâs all miserable, shitty list-warring thatâs pushed by online content creators who lack any real talent so they instead focus on rage-bait and it sucks.
I didnât think so, I and another were close to winning before a rug was pulled from beneath us both. It didnât matter to me when I lost and I just have the feeling that I want to play more.
I really donât think itâs that simple anymore TBH. Yeah there is console war stuff always going on and always will but when it comes to Xbox, the fanbase has felt for years that things have been pretty unfair for you if youâre not in the PS or Nintendo ecosystem.
Console wars have existed since I was a kid arguing on the playground with other kids about Sega vs Nintendo but it wasnât as toxic as it is now. I mean the term âXbox Taxâ did not come from nowhere! Ever since the Xbox One generation on places like Neogaf where mods went on a straight up crusade against any and every xbox fan, to most of the gaming sites and Youtubers either having a straight up mad on for xbox or just being overly negative on it because it generates surefire clicks. The outright hostility towards xbox and trolling in every xbox related thread ( allowed by the way ) on Resetera. Nearly impossible to discuss on places like Twitter etc. Pretty sure thatâs a big reason this site exists to begin with.
I think Xbox fans just want to see xbox get a win , and actually compete the way they used to during the 360 gen. After all the bullshit xbox fans had to deal with because they chose to go with this brand only for Xbox to ( as many see it ) âthrow in the towelâ , not surprised that morale is super low and there is so much bitterness towards the leadership.
The multiplatform thing wonât ever stop the âus vs themâ antics because the gaming media and Youtubers spent well over a decade cultivating it and they arenât going to stop while it gets them clicks. All they will do is celebrate Sony seemingly having the console arena basically all to themselves ( they donât count Nintendo for some reason) because lets face it, itâs what theyâve always wanted.
I guess it depends where you are looking. Twitter is going to be a sh*t show regardless, but I imagine places like era will clean up once/if the exclusive stance changes. You already see a significantly different reaction to a game like Doom The Dark Ages than you see other Xbox titles. You already see a change in narrative with Indiana Jones as well.
There will always be some folks out there, but I expect that gaming discussion will no longer be filled with drive bys and trolly posts anymore.
Weâll see though!
Yeah, sadly, there will always be a market for Xbox back?!?! Xbox dead?!!?! Xbox evil?!?!?
And you can predict it so easily. There will be a bunch of sites after Shattered Space who say âits good but it just shows how awful the rest of Starfield isâ and when it comes to PS5 or PS6 in 1-3 years, theyâll say âthis is how Starfield should have launchedâ.
That being said, you canât run a business based around bad-faith coverage. I basically just tune everything out unless revenue or MAUs are meaningfully down because those are facts vs. seo farming spin
So I am back playing Starfield and it got me wondering⌠what visual modes on Series X do you use as default? I usually use performance prioritise 60 frames but giving visual a go at 30 again
Visual with 60fps, it runs well enough for me and it doesnât give me a headache so might as well.
Edit: Wanted to make a quick update, the fps feels a little worse in visual 60fps than I remember(running around New Atlantis specifically), it could be because of mods I have installed or because the latest update came with some performance hit though so I donât know.
30fps is pretty much the same, so really itâs likely New Atlantis.
This so much. The backhanded compliment narratives are ultra predictable.
Concord peaked on day one. Thatâs really bad. I saw one review that practically belittled the art designs and said this isnât about political stance or whatever, rather how they lack creativity, something no would cosplay, and downright forgettable. Itâs rather hurtful.
Luke Stephens has apprantly returned to Starfield too.
What a miserable existence these folks have chosen.
Visual 30 â the motion blur is sufficient for me and the inconsistency in cities / shadow flicker is annoying.
I donât know who Luke Stephens is, but at 7k viewsâŚhe isnât changing the world. He also needs someone to create his thumbnails, because woooof, double down and use comic sans to go with those 90s powerpoint text effects.
As a framerate snob, 30. Which hurts me to say, but whatever they have done it feels good.
(On series s, so if i had x probably would pick 40)
Yeah literally i usually play exclusively 60 but the 30 on Starfield feels really smooth. I play on favour visuals, 30 fps.
Tbh its kinda put the whole Avowed 30 frames into perspective for me. I was disappointed but the reality is if it can be smooth like Starfield, I just wont care.
I can only speak for myself but the whole agonizing over problems like frame rate locks just sucks the enjoyment out of gaming⌠going to try and focus less on that noise and more on the actual enjoyment of what Iâm playing.
Plus, Obsidian aint a tech house. You go to Obsidian for ideas and art. Its always been a jankfest until Outer Worlds and even that looks just fine on the technical side.
Yes, I can recommend that.
All that noise was one of the main reasons I left pc gaming years ago, itâs annoying how it has become a thing on consoles too. I try to ignore it and focus on the things I enjoy in games. None of which are muh frames, muh res or muh reflections.
