Couldn’t agree more. There are so many elements of the Xbox ecosystem that you take for granted; I’ve been playing a lot of my other systems for the backlog challenge and seeing some of the “basic” features missing from current Sony and Nintendo offerings is not only mind-blowing (free cloud saves being one of the most obvious and easily most impactful), but it really highlights how skewed our media is. If Sony offered half of what Xbox does for their users, for free mind you, IGN types would have five articles to splatter their homepage about each feature, like they did for weeks after the overwhelmingly-maligned PS5 Pro announcement.
Fun fact: I only recently found out that not only does PS4 still not have basic wishlist features for the store, but there’s no way to even manage the damn thing on the console. You have to go to the PS site to do so… just asinine when Xbox has had so many features still missing from Sony’s ecosystem, for years.
And Quick Resume is still some god damn black magic. I’m not even using it that much because of most games being always online, but when I use it, it just blows my mind every time ! It just works even when the Xbox console is powered off… how insane is that ?! I can’t give a crap about activity cards, Quick Resume is how every next-gen console should work !
I think what is making the Xbox ecosystem less attractive is because it’s still the same overall design language of the Xbox One generation, although much improved. If they changed it a bit, it would make people think again.
Very happy that Pearl Abyss rejected Sony’s offer. Crimson Desert has been one of my most anticipated games since the gameplay reveal at the 2020 Game Awards. Very much looking forward to playing this on my Xbox Series X!! If there’s an early edition or whatnot, I will be buying that one.
Nice!!! Three days before launch is a pretty good sign. Expecting mid-80’s for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Hyped!!!
Agree 100%.
I agree with this 100% as well.
Another post I agree with. The free cloud saves have saved me multiple times this generation. And as long as you don’t select “delete everywhere” in the save data section for the game, your cloud saves will always be there.
Nice. Looking forward to seeing what Rebel Wolves are cooking!!
It’s definitely one of the most defining features for this gen, I don’t get to game much but when I do it’s usually in very quick sessions (30 minutes or less).
If I had to wait for the game to load or go back to a specific mission/location I would never get anything done.
If Sony isn’t gonna slow down/quit with those, then yeah, sure, because I hate these deals were games are excluded from Xbox and we are left to guess when the fuck it’s coming out, nah man.
Or of course, more devs/pubs follow suit like with what Pearl did.
I’d like it if it’s both by them, but I guess it can’t be both. Wish they did though, because a lot of these bigger games just don’t seem to get the deals, with exceptions of course.
I posted the same on Jez’s tweet. Me paying Microsoft or Sony for full/timed exclusivity doesn’t benefit me at all as a consumer/gamer but a day one Game Pass deal does.
I think you have to take market position into account when it comes to these deals. Playstation is paying to keep games off Xbox (a small market), Xbox would be paying to keep games off Playstation (a large market). If you looked at it strictly from the estimated lost sales, Xbox signing an exclusive would cost more than twice what it does for Playstation to do the same.
That’s ignoring the games they fund and publish themselves of course.
That’s true, it’s a huge difference. But at the same time, it’s MS, I’m not gonna worry about MS money. But I realize the Xbox division definitely doesn’t have that fabled chest of unlimited funds. It was a nice thing to fantasise about a while ago though, haha.
How many times do we have to prove that, in this case specifically, money doesn’t matter? We literally heard devs saying Sony had a mob-like hold on the industry and it has nothing to do with current money reserves.
Give me more third party day one Game Pass games. How about snatching Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza day one!!! That would actually benefit me since I want to play it. But exclusivity, im over it.
