Just in case you’re not aware, ad free is a Patron perk, even at the basic level. All other forum users will be served ads. Ads are causing an issue due to a change to their provider, which is what is causing the havoc and serving ads to Patrons.

Anyway not shocked but disappointed, also very disappointed with Silent Hill being an exclusive, like I have a PS5 so I can play it but definitely won’t pay full price and will try to get it in a sale on Ebay, but why the heck would Konami bring back such an iconic IP and not put it on as many platforms as possible? Makes little sense to me.
Respect to Pearl Abyss for refusing this, also shows Xbox should try not to release games on PlayStation because even by doing that Sony won’t stop the aggressive third party moneyhatting practices.
Just Sony being Sony. They 've been operating this way since the beginning.
That’s true.
But I can’t deny it’s just really annoying how Xbox in turn is like “have our games” while Sony stays being annoying as fuck!
I realise all the business reasons and everything, but that’s just how I feel and I really get it that it ticks off other Xbox fans (who’ve been there since day one) too.
In the grand scheme of things it’s really not a big deal though. I’ve fully accepted that this is their new route. It’s whatever.
Keep your eyes on the prize. The fact that this developer rebuffed them is showing changing times. Sony is not the Goliath they think they are any more. Black myth selling over 20 million on steam to about 3million on PS5 is a huge. I think it was on the gaming circle podcast where one bad mutha said one of the people he knew at Amazon said they focused the marketing of new World on PS5 but were surprised it was resonating more with Xbox players.
Very true. I really hope it’s the start of a big change regarding that. Pearl Abyss easily could have said yes, I mean I can imagine it’s not super easy to just refuse such an offer. Course we’ve no idea how much Sony offered but still.
I won’t be surprised if we see Stellar Blade come to Xbox next year. It seems Sony has been busy in China and South Korea as of late trying to lock down exclusives.
True but Peal Abyss isn’t exactly a small developer. They have a number of games that look pretty good in the works. Dokev for example could be that Pokemon or Digimon like game that will appeal to kids.
I had no idea this was coming from Pearl Abyss, interesting!
I have it. Aside from Xbox store purchases I only use it to pay my Netflix and Spotify subscriptions for the extra rewards points.
Different strategies for 2 companies in wildly different market positions. Sony is essentially paying money to keep things off of Xbox whereas Xbox is making money by putting games on Playstation. For now, Xbox is making more profit than Playstation, so it seems like it’s working well for them at the moment despite all the fan backlash. We’ll see what happens in the future, but as you say, we’ve all kind of accepted it at this point.
It also doesn’t help that each company is held to different standards. Xbox moneyhats/deals = bad. Sony moneyhats/deals = crickets.
Not even crickets, the same lot that condemn Xbox for literally anything, celebrate when Sony does the same thing or worse.
I love xbox.
I decided to play Dragon Age Inquisition again in anticipation of Veilguard. I first started the game in december 2014, played 10-15 hours, but put it aside as I wasn’t really impressed by the game at the time. Then I picked it back up in 2020 exactly where I’ve left it off with the enhanced patch but played it less than an hour. Now in 2024, I got back to it and it’s growing on me.
Each times I reinstalled the game, it synchronized my saves with the power of the cloud, and I continued the game exactly where I’ve left off. It’s some magic that we take for granted which is just some advanced shit that is so future proof and one of the reason I will stay on Xbox.
All my saves, which are a part of my life, are on the cloud servers and I’m the guy who sometimes get back to games I didn’t finish a few years later. I only do that on Xbox because of the cloud…
TL;DR: I got back to Dragon Age Inquisition and continue playing my decade old save like nothing happened.
Its funny you say this. Because I just sold my PlayStation 5 (will get a Pro someday down the road) but I had to resubscribe to PS+ for a month to make sure all my saves were backed up. Just so I can manually redownload them later.
I absolutely love this too, have been playing stuff I’ve not picked up in ages as well and it all just works. No fuss, no muss, and it often looks (and runs) better than when I bought it.
Their eyes visioned it Western Elden Ring.
