Every major dev/pub is moving to ‘put our games everywhere’ for a reason.

The unfortunate reality of being the ‘minor’ player in the market.

I’m deep into Visions of Mana, awesome game in my opinion. Still deciding if I attempt 1000 achievements on it or not as there will be some grinding involved.

I’m more annoyed on folks who begged third party to not “sell out” by putting it on Xbox than anything.

Also love how so many of these games are Play Anywhere. Perfect content for a ROG Ally or equivalent device.

And Y is yellow. Always.

Everyone knows deep inside that it is the truth.

Today’s “gamers” are weird like that. I blame social media and Youtube grifter culture.

Totally agree.

Also forgot about Unicorn Overlord (I regret not getting the CE)…2024 is a such a good year for Japanese games on Xbox. Jesse said many times that many of us think that 360 was the best era for Japanese content on Xbox but the truth is that the current generation is easily the best in terms of support from Japan and he is right, Japanese support has never been this strong for Xbox.

If you really want the CE - Woot, owned by Amazon - has the Xbox version for $55, sale ends in (correction, 7 days not 6 hours)

Played the Metaphor demo all evening, haven’t finished yet.

Good

  • Fucking awesome music

  • Great voice acting (Japanese)

  • Anime cutscenes

  • Difficulty options, if battles become too tiresome I can choose one that makes combat a breeze so I can just follow the story. I will never be a huge TB fan, so I can definitely see myself lowering difficulty here and there.

  • The quick save with dpad up, instead of having to go into menus for it. It helps!

  • How the camera zooms in when attacking makes it quite cool. In some other games with TB combat it is less lively.

  • It’s only the prologue, but already interesting stuff in the story. Have a feeling it’s gonna have a whole lot more.

Not so good

  • Visuals. It has a very dated look overall, and that goes for city and locations surrounding it. And Atlus must’ve forgotten to apply anti-aliasing, it really stands out in a bad way. Aren’t the Persona games super clean?

  • framerate not 100% smooth in the city, I panned the camera and notice dips here and there. I don’t really get why this is happening when it looks like a game that seems it could easily be a last gen game.

Gonna give it a shot this weekend probably. How did you do with the combat? I know you’re not huge on turn based

I’m one of those who want JPRGs for optics I guess since I will definitely advocate for JRPGs I probably won’t get to. I buy and play as much as I can, but I can’t get to all of them. I’ve bought way too many that are just sitting in my backlog.

I will say this though, “demanding for optics” is definitely not just an Xbox thing. Plenty of people on the other consoles demand games, exclusivity, etc… yet have zero intention of playing those games.

The Metaphor demo is meaty! I got a little over 4 hours in and I still haven’t reached the end, but this is an Atlus game and as I’m finding out since first my first playthrough of P5R: that’s at least 80 hours worth of gaming(over 100 for me).

Edit: seems last time I checked my time was a while ago, because I have 5 hours and 39 minutes in the demo.

People forget that after getting certain games exclusive from Japanese devs, Xbox gave up and focus on Kinect and market heavily only for USA audience. Here it’s like reverse. They’re growing and ever since 2020 TGS, they kept their words on gathering more and more devs to join them.

I won’t be there for the Square games because I don’t see any value for the collection’s current price. I am here for the Atlus RPG games and showed up for every like a dragon game
