While I don’t like the screen effects like the blood or the black and white flashes during battles, this game looks like Assassin’s Creed and The Witcher III had a baby. lol

Day fucking one!!!

Then don’t buy it. Speak with your wallet. I’m still gonna buy one when I can just walk into a store and buy it. I don’t think it’s gonna be barely any diffrence in games Like you said. Your gonna see it really show off on the next slat of games and your gonna see a lot of people who think it’s a bad idea suddenly buy one. As a consumer you should always want a product to be as cheap as possible. So I understand that fustration. Like I said if I don’t want that I can just go buy the cheaper model. I’d really be mad if there was only one option and it was 700.

One of the people from rpgsite or whatever apparently really didn’t like the idea of xbox getting jrpgs to put it lightly and et it be known on Twitter at the time. Not sure what his beef with xbox was.

You’re not really gonna have a new slate of titles that properly utilize the console. It’s a mid gen refresh, all you’ll get is a bit of a higher resolution and some upscaling to give you a sharper looking image at the same refresh rate as performance mode on PS5. All you’re getting is a slightly bigger GPU, not a next gen refresh. There wasn’t anything earth shattering with Xbox One X and PS4 Pro and it won’t be any different this time around. I actually see it as less of an improvement than what the mid gen refreshes did last time around.

I see your point but I remember getting my one x and playing lots of games at 60 that ran at 30 on ps4 on base x1. One x was such a good console for it and if the pro does it as well I’m all for it. It’s gonna be for some people and not for others and that’s fine

I do think that there will be a noticable benefit with be PS5 Pro in regards to framerates for a good number of games. 120fps for the next CoD, and ironically for every single Xbox game released on it. Essentially what you’re getting is something similar to what can do the job of Tensor cores on Nvidia cards. So the game can run at 1080p at 120 FPS and upscale to 4K.

I don’t know if we’ll see 60fps on it for GTA6, because like Starfield it’s a game that’s likely incredibly taxing on the CPU with all the systems involved.

I do agree that it was simply a bad showcase in terms of messaging. Something that we are familiar with when it comes to Xbox and pretty rare for Sony.

If they had GTA 6 it would have been a massive boon to the showcase and would have sold people.

All that said, could such a console have been sold for $599? I think that was the price people were expecting for such a device.

So I don’t question what Sony was thinking with the PS5 Pro as I think their logic is sound and resonates with gamers. Whereas the PS4 Pro focused on taking advantage of 4K resolution screens, the PS5 Pro is focused on delivering high framerates.

It’s just the packaging that’s the problem. Not including the stand, something that probably cost $2 to manufacture, is pretty silly. Alternatively, $599 for the digital version and $699 for the disc version (even without stand for either) would have went much better in terms of optics.

The one thing that needs to be pointed out in regards to pricing is the fact that the 2 TB storage is probably something responsible for that high price considering that the 2TB Series X model is only $100 less than this PS5 Pro. As much as Sony is getting criticized for this price, it is interesting to see that we aren’t seeing Xbox getting roasted for the $599 Series X. I think this is because we do understand how expensive SSD storage is nowadays. Yes it includes an optical drive but I do think that the $100 difference between the 2TB Series X and the 2TB PS5 Pro makes the Pro the obvious option between the both.

With a fairly easy storage upgrade path on the PS5, I question their inclusion of a 2TB SSD. Let users eat that cost. Same with the Series X revision. Stick with the external drives as expansion solutions. Make the entry point as affordable as possible and with the new model being the only one with the disc drive, you really narrow down the option for people wanting to jump in with the disc drive.

They’re not even promising games will definitely run at 60FPS, let alone having stuff run at 120FPS at 1080p - I think that’ll be very few and far between.

At that point, you’re heading into top-end RTX territory - and this thing is nowhere near that level of power…

I do agree about the hard drive though, that making it 1TB and coming in at £599 would have made more sense - however, comparing it to the Xbox isn’t really valid as it’s a £200/$200 difference between the two once you add the optical drive, and it’s not like you need to buy a stand for the Series X either.

Yes any “it plays best on the PS5 Pro” will be awkward for first-party games that are multi-platform, but it’s possible it’ll be less than 2 years between the Pro and the next Xbox so there may not be that many games that happens with

People also forget how underwhelming the PS4 Pro support was in their 1st party games last gen. Most of the times the “enhancements” were just higher resolution and they run at the same frame-rates (the vast majority were 30fps of course). So yeah before anyone gets too excited about the PS5 Pro keep in mind that they didn’t have the best history on supporting PS4 Pro last gen.

Also worth mentioning that Hogwarts Legacy was still running at 30FPS according to Digital Foundry, and Tom Warren confirmed there would still be 30 FPS “enhanced” games on the PS5 pro. Honestly, to me there is no point in that refresh.

I stand by mid-gen refresh doesn’t make sense this gen because the major pull last gen was to get 4k graphics for our new 4K TVs. I don’t see many incentives except if you haven’t bought a PS5 yet and want top of the line hardware. I think PS5 Pro will move a good amount of units, but it doesn’t feel necessary this gen.

As being reported by Tolito, found on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours

The jobs bring cut seem to be corporate only and affecting only ABK.

Unfortunate, but man, how much cleaning does ABK still need?

I guess it’s part of their structuring, so they’re getting rid of roles they think are filled by Xbox already. Although imo, ABK likely does a better job in a lot of the same roles as Xbox.

Just sucks to hear it as always.

For the past year, our goal has been to minimize disruption while welcoming new teams and enabling them to do their best work. As part of aligning our post-acquisition team structure and managing our business, we have made the decision to eliminate approximately 650 roles across Microsoft Gaming — mostly corporate and supporting functions — to organize our business for long term success.

I know that this is difficult news to hear. We are deeply grateful for the contributions of our colleagues who are learning they are impacted. In the US, we’re supporting them with exit packages that include severance, extended healthcare, and outplacement services to help with their transition; outside the US packages will differ according to location.

With these changes, our corporate and supporting teams and resources are aligned for sustainable future growth, and can better support our studio teams and business units with programs and resources that can scale to meet their needs. Separately, as part of running the business, there are some impacts to other teams as they adapt to shifting priorities and manage the lifecycle and performance of games. No games, devices or experiences are being cancelled and no studios are being closed as part of these adjustments today.

Throughout our team’s history, we have had great moments, and we have had challenging ones. Today is one of the challenging days. I know that going through more changes like this is hard, but even in the most trying times, this team has been able to come together and show one another care and kindness as we work to continue delivering for our players. We appreciate your support as we navigate these changes and we thank you for your compassion and respect for each other.

Sad part is I wouldn’t be shocked if we have another round of layoffs to end the year.

I hope this is it for this year as sad as it is to sad. That said I think we’re going to hear more from other companies fairly soon.

Yeah I get that feeling as well. I dont think they are done .

Being able to layoff another 650 people with little to no impact on game or hardware development is crazy, and shows how inefficient the industry has been.

Yeah it’s probably job duplication due to the merger - for example if you’re now getting paid by Microsoft’s payroll team you don’t need the separate ABK one once handover has been done
