Since they hired thousands during the purchase and the resulting trials/investigations, I can imagine a ton of extra staff that MS wasn’t planning to have. MS should have had some clauses to punish ABK for inflating their workforce that degree.
Really sucks for everyone involved. That said, why a trillion dollar company with a bunch of cash can’t find a good use for these extra folks is beyond my understanding.
If you look at the hiring over the last few years Bobby K nearly doubled the head count there, been shocked more weren’t fired but that FTC cased dragged on.
in the US it wouldn’t help, they’re getting good severance. In this situation it’s a result of the mass hiring during the merger so I wouldn’t be shocked at even more over time, ABK nearly doubled employee count.
Perhaps too early to call but Astro Bot at Japan sold around 12,000, beaten by Touhou game for Switch that sold around 16,000. Stellar Blade sold 49,000 in its opening weekend.
Good to hear, but likely too late. As that run time fee was ridiculous, and ended up destroying every bit of trust they had with studios. It’s likely that most studious will try to move on to something else to make sure Unity can’t try this again.
