Close to its release for sure
People will rightfully question the lack of first party output from Sony for 2024, but this really does highlight the importance of these third party deals. Your average gamer isnāt going to care whether itās 1P, 3P, they will just see it as FF7 Rebirth is a major exclusive for PS5 this year.
Itās hindsight of course because Redfall and Starfield were delayed out of 2022, but Xbox really could have used a big third party exclusive or 2 to fill out 2022 without it being such a barren year in the eyes of the wider gaming community.
I love how many dynamic backgrounds weāve getting lately, keep āem coming!
Yeah, I totally agree. Sure, games like Final Fantasy VII arenāt first party, but this doesnāt matter to your average consumer. First party or not, the only console where you can play the game is the PlayStation. Of course people will associate these games with Sony, even if they some day end up releasing on Xbox someday.
So from what I gather, Stellar Blade is arriving on April and then after that, dust and echoes from first party perspective. Strangely enough, it left the following month the door to open for Xbox to go HAM (is that still a thing?) with first party starting in May.
Third party is something they need to get lined up years in advance so it couldāve also been delayed just like Starfield and Redfall. 2022 was a delay in strategy because of time, not a lack of strategy imo, because theyāve only been granted expanded 1st party funding in 2018.
You forgot about Sonyās brand new game: Until Dawn. Very original game.
They better not charge me more than $10 for that upgrade or so help meā¦
It looked like a new game, nobody beats Sony in deception.
Itās a remake on UE5, so Iām expecting full price for that lmao
Wow. SH2 could be the first game to ruin remake greatness because it looks rather indie starter kit sensation. Also, whatās with the tone in that trailer? Did they miss the point of SH and Iām not even SH fan. I donāt know, remake has been raised to very high standard and with P3R being another banger, any thing lower will be disappointing.
I think they got a bit blindsided by Bethesdaās overly ambitious roadmap, where everything was launching within 2-3 years to inflate their value for the acquisition. At least that sort of long dry spell will never happen again, everything MS has done up to this point is exactly to avoid this reliance on 3rd party, be it timed or full exclusivity.
That was a very mid show.
I have one game (Stellar Ass) on my list for PS this year. Last year also had one game (Spider-Man 2)ā¦
I scratched Rise of the Ronin off of my list, it looks meh. DS2 I have no idea, the first one is in the backlog heh.
Silent Hill 2 remake has that Bloober flavorā¦itās no compliment, I guess pundits expecting a RE2 level game were not that happy. Ronin is still using the old Nioh engine and it seems from early 8th gen. DS2 6 years after the first and it also seems very similar to the first. I like the korean game more than the other Sony offerings honestly.
I was trying to be fair and not think of HellBlade 2 in terms of atmosphere and detail in combat, but even without comparison, it really feels like itās an indie title announced with limited budget. I donāt want to be harsh, because I know game can be difficult to develop, but this doesnāt give a good impression.
Stellar Blade = Rear Automata
They did have great third party games except they arenāt tuned exclusives they are day one in gamepass. And honestly as a consumer having a game day 1 in gamepass is better for me as a consumer than having a company pay to keep it off another console for a limited time. Lies of P was fantastic, like a dragon Gaiden, and many more donāt count because they were on playstation at full price?
Me personally i rather they keep the day 1 gamepass going than any console war list war of times exclusives for the sake of adding to a list to fill in gaps from the first party.
As far as the show goes over all i thought it was a decent showing with a wide variety of hands which will always lead to things i donāt enjoy but good to see the variety. Not a fan of horror vr or death standing which was a big part. But stellar blade looked decent along with ronin and even hell divers looked like it could be fun.
