As much as this excite me, I hope it doesn’t mean Captain Crunch is employed.

Although it’s a report on a leak, I can’t fault him for feeling like he wrote all that for nothing.

I don’t know how Xbox avoided closure, but this sucks nonetheless.

“Employees are not thrilled”

Well, with the recent events in the gaming industry I suspect they are pretty thrilled to have an office to go to?

Yeah it’s crunch time definitely, but at least it’s not layoffs… yet (?)

I don’t want to judge any further, because why would EA cancel a game by a studio that has more than proven itself with Titanfall and 2’s awesome SP and the two Star Wars Jedi games? We have no idea how well or not it was progressing, I guess. But it does suck, very much. I guess they make a Jedi 3 then?

That all being said, i guess early 2025 is quite realistic I guess then?

Lets see how the media spam countless articles about this one.

IGN already has three different EA articles on their homepage, while Sony has none featured unless you stroll wayyyyy down lol

Well, Sony paid Disney $100M for Spiderman 2. Star Wars is probably less, but in today’s market why even spend $50M on a license? They already struggle with profit margins and licenses make it worse.

Okay, that’s pretty funny.

It will be. According to Sara Bond A.I will democratize games, they will have a co pilot for game developers and co-creators. I think they are looking at A.I very differently from Nvidia’s DLSS, seems they would like it to be something interactive that changes the game or something akin to YouTube for content providers. The DLSS and frame generation things seems like what they are building and developing more into Windows, sure the A.I hardware will push it to different levels. I’d say watch those Sora A.I demos and see how far A.I has come. The DLSS thing to me seems old at this point and not the needed game changer so I expect it but think what will come will be something totally different that is in line with the Core Microsoft.

It took me a minute… yeah, that’s very likely what will happen.

Finally got around to playing the Unicorn Overlord Demo. Gorgeous game, I expect no less from Vanillaware. Yet another game to go on the ever growing backlog.

I’m thinking this is a way to shrink jobs with lay offs. Get people to leave on their own to reduce head count than go to lay offs of more are needed. This industry is in a bad spot right now.

Doesn’t excite me, as it sucks for employees to suddenly have their working circumstances changed when they’ve built their lives around their current working pattern.

Then given the state of the industry, as soon as GTA 6 comes out loads will be laid off to give the share price that extra sweet bump, rather than a decent reward for their hard work…

Wouldn’t bet on it, my best guess would still be September / holiday season 2025 as I think only GTA 4 released mid year (April).

Getting everyone back in office now allows them to get development almost finished and QA to begin in earnest - as it’ll probably take a year or so with the back and forth between developers and testers.

They’ve not exactly been polished with some releases recently (the GTA Trilogy remaster for example) but I bet they’ll want this as bug-free as possible as they don’t want any bad reviews / word-of-mouth to risk even a backlash when they know this could sell crazy amounts.

Late 2025 also allows them to get the initial rush, then loads of people getting it for Christmas - and if Sony are paying loads to get PS5 Pro as “the best place to play” (as per media reports) it gives them almost a year probably to build up stock levels and also sell a load for Christmas…
