I was completely wrong on ABK. Xbox needed ABK as much as ABK needed Xbox, that much is clear now.
Things would be pretty grim if they didn’t purchase them. Other than that, not much to take away from the quarter. I’m expecting banger numbers during the holiday quarter.
True that is impressive. Its just am mostly concerned about the next gen hardware if thing continue to declined at this rate.
But i think the thing Xbox needs is to deliver on the marketing cause thats a thing that helps move users to your ecosystem and spreads a bit more mouth to mouth.
Am hoping Activision Blizzard help on this on an massive level.
They will never stop making their own hardware. Giving up on phones was their biggest regret and they’re making more in gaming than they ever did there.
Literally me. The concern is every bit of a reach as it was months ago - you don’t have to be in first to be successful, and their numbers are considerably better than any of Nintendo’s worst console numbers (VirtualBoy, GCN - which was a damn shame, and WiiU).
They make too much from their own ecosystem to bail on it, there’s no logic there.
Hardware sales have crattered and I dont think they will improve. That’s whats making them go third party but again, as long as they dont touch the people behind their studios then everything is good for me.
I think the fear of every xbox console user is if 3rd party publsiher will take their time to make games for the next xbox (and being good ports) considering, if the continue making consoles, their hardware sales could decrease each passing year/generation.
I bought the new PS5 slim for $399 last month at GameStop . I guess that was a sale price, but still seems like a nice price for PlayStation to make a Starfield or Black Ops 6 bundle. It would make the cult very happy, Sony would definitely make those bundles $399 for Christmas.
For bundles where they have to pay Microsoft for every console sold(if Disney’s deal is any indication it’s going to be a lot), with special edition controllers and even a special edition console? I don’t see it being $399 at launch, not even for Xmas.
I can understand the worry, as I have it to some extent, but I have come to realize that while Xbox isn’t the highest seller on both games and consoles for 3rd party. They still represent a good chunk of cash that the bigger third party(which is what most people care about unfortunately), aren’t going to ignore without a good reason(MT framework being broke on Xbox and not wanting to spend the money to make a new game without it for Capcom).
Given the monthly numbers from Circana, my bet is PS5 and Nintendo wont be far behind that 44% decline in hardware. Xbox fell more last year, so it isn’t perfectly rosy, but wouldnt worry as much about the headline.
