I don’t know how it would affect the sales in France but if they tried and failed then I could see your point on giving up. Also keep in mind that the marketing in Europe is already abysmal so we surely don’t know how the European market will react to decent marketing.

The only sure thing is that from this holiday season and onwards the Series consoles will be a much better proposition than they are now with numerous big games coming and CoD coming to GP. Sounds logical to me to try to sell your hardware considering things are only going to get better from now on.

I think that’s the major concern with them already closing some European support offices. I don’t think AI is going to solve that. Plus, there could be stuff where services aren’t working well in that region and it takes longer to fix since lack of funds going there.

That year had no other direction to go, so it was a problem that was like playing Elden Ring DLC without knowing how difficulty works in the genre. This one is like a song that people forget to listen and it goes like “Time that are changing.”

Haha, first thing I thought when I saw that post was what’s new.

Propaganda gonna propaganda, and bad-faith users gonna bad-faith - the good news is never meaningful to those people and only misery matters, I’m over it.

On the way to Bathurst listening to an Xbox era podcast, the “what is it you cant face” never gets old, killing me.

I think what this is saying is they will still focus on marketing but not on marketing the consoles but on marketing Game Pass, PC and Cloud. This speaks volume to the new strategy with their nextgen plans of opening their platform and making it more PC focused. I think this is actually good this way they focus more on marketing content and not the plastic box.

Actually I think they are just refocusing. The article didn’t say less marketing on Xbox but on the console. They will focus on marketing their content in Europe and selling them on PC, Cloud and Game Pass.

Console market is not growing. The rumor was never about leaving the market. It even said that the focus is now more on PC, Cloud and GP.

Which is the right move IMO.

Hm, the doom and gloom cycle is getting really annoying.

Sure, sucks for Game pass price increase. Sucks that the Marketing “may” not market consoles as much in EU. Sucks that Phil cannot read the room in regards to console users compared to even Matt Booty, who i have a love hate relation towards the guy.

But there are positives and the games will sale and potentially move hardware and make folks see that the ecosystem is valid and trustworthy to use.

So let’s look on forward to that.

Also question, is Othercide a good game or was really just hot air for some? Am contemplating making a buy but i need some info before making a commitment to it.

Absolutely couldn’t agree more. Microsoft has a history of being early to things, including some moves they’ve made with their Xbox brand, but on this I think their timing is perfect.

They see the writing on the wall. Traditional living room consoles are probably not long for this world. It’s that simple. And they’re making moves to adjust to that probability: pivoting to cloud, pivoting to PC, pivoting to multiplatform, pivoting to portable.

BUT, and this is important and something they’ve often missed in the past, they’re also hedging their bets slightly and not moving too fast by simply declaring the console dead prematurely. Instead they’ve committed to at least one more hardware generation, one that rumours has will try to straddle the line between portable and PC.

This gives them options in the future: continue making hardware, should rumours of console’s death be greatly exaggerated. Or abandon hardware altogether in favour of cloud and OEM partnerships. Or something in between.

All of this is why I’m extremely bullish on Xbox and its future. More so than I’ve been in a really long time.

Totally agree and even think it’s better to market something PC, Cloud and Gamepass as they are relatively cheap and easily within reach for almost anyone. Also they can now focus on marketing content rather than plastic.
