The top comment is acknowledging its a good game at best not a franchise.
I dont really agree, but its more people dogpiling on Horizon than not.

i didnât even finish the second one. i cant see this as a long franchise with such an unlikable main character. And the whole world/lore is nothing to write about.
Either there are many people that donât like it and more people begin to turn against it because of multiple shoves Sony is doing with the franchise.

Thatâs unexpected, damn. Iâm guessing no FF16 announcement this year then. GC I doubt.
Sony does seem to be really pushing Horizon as their new big franchise, however I donât ever see the love for it unlike other IPâs.
I didnât complete the first and still havenât even started the second game yet.
If anything it seems to be more of a visual piece and that it does very well indeed.
Wasnât it last year that Xbox didnât figure on the exhibitors list, and yet they still had a show ?
I did wonder about Tokyo, especially considering they closed their only Japanese studio (Tango) this year (and a fantastic studio at that). The reception might have been a bit flaky.
It also makes me wonder if they will still pursue a Japanese publisher in the future.
That I honestly donât know.
Yeah, itâs quite unfortunate for sure. But even despite Tango closure I was expecting them to be here with some announcements from third parties such as SE. Since new announcements by them this year havenât been that many, not the Japanese kind.
They announced their show late last year. It could happen again this year. Plus, in the reply, Jez is digging the info to see if itâs the same case. Itâs early to call since Gamescom is next and their focus is on that.

It never gets old to watch everything I predicted come to pass
Horizon was the sequel no one was asking for and PlayStation has an IP problemâŚ
I donât know about the list, but Xbox announced their digital show on September 7, 2023.
Oooh, and by that time all the other exhibitors were announced too? Then thereâs absolutely still a chance.
You look at the Gematsu article, nowhere does it mention the online schedule, only the floor exhibitors and the days of the physical events. And Xbox has never had a physical presence on the floor.
And on the Tokyo Game Show websiteâŚ
Happy 4th, everyone from USofA.
Odd, itâs weird then. Iâm seeing sites like Gematsu and others reporting Xbox wonât be there. But i donât know if this was the same last year, because if yes, itâs false alarm. Really hope it is.
Yep happy 4th July to the US, and if youâre in the UK remember to vote!

Theyâre focusing on Gamescom now.
Since Sony isnât showing at Gamescom, theyâre focusing on the next one, TGS. I donât expect MS to say anything about TGS until September.
Yeah, it makes sense.
Just surprising that these things are jumping to the conclusion that Xbox wonât be at TGS. Are the exhibitors always announced this early? Because if thatâs the case and it was like this last year, the media is just being disingenuous.
As they often are, guess it shouldnât even surprise me.
