Yep PC Gamer’s article was similarly messed up logic wise - Game Pass has stalled, no one wants subscriptions, this won’t move the needle.
Then saying it’ll lose MS loads of money and is a massive risky move.
That’s also part of making up “the ABK money” (that doesn’t need to be, as MS gained an asset of equal value).
So which is it, gaming media - are there so few GP subscribers it’ll barely cost anything or will it bankrupt Xbox? Will it bring subscribers or is GP stalled? Will it start making up the ABK money or make CoD worthless?
They used arguments from both sides of each of those, it’s farcical
Not sure if anyone talked about it, but there’s a post about Series X sale trending higher on Amazon after WSJ article was posted. One would argue to be coincidence with HB2 release, but maybe it did do something. If it’s true that an article made the push, this is a good sign and Xbox MUST use this opportunity. I know it’s exaggerating but it’s do or die.
I don’t know why games/JRPG’s do this. Maybe to keep people playing the game longer OR to do what I did, spend extra money in order to not play the game longer.
As for Final Fantasy VII Remake/Rebirth, I completed both and never felt like I did in Arise. Played all three of them on easy/story mode. Arise just feels like you’re meant to do everything in the game in order to be where you should be by the end.
I played and completed it. Yes and yes to both of your questions. Story/characters/writing is the strongest aspect of the game in my opinion. I rated it an 8.0/10 overall which on my scale is a great game. Combat and gameplay is good but is setup camera wise like God of War/The Last of Us meaning that if an enemy is to your side, you must rotate the camera in order to get your character facing the enemy in order to attack them. There’s also an option in the setting with character movement or something like that…be sure to increase this as it makes the movement a lot more fluid and responsive. The lower the setting, the heavier and more clunky your character becomes which is pretty cool. Every game should have this option.
If you’re into Vampires, I recommend Vampyr. Also developed by Don’t Nod.
Agreed. What’s the point of having an easy/story mode if it’s still a pain in the ass at times? UGH. Still a great 8.0/10 game in my opinion. And this comes from someone who never played a Tales game until Arise.
How could I forget Vampyr! I have it iirc, another backlog game.
Yes I love vampire stuff, Dracula etc, awesome stuff. Banishers might be something we’ll buy maybe later this year or if it lands in Game Pass before it. It’s not impossible.
In order? You mean side quests and everything it has to offer? Because most of the time if the content seems worth the time I will do it all.
No particular order of how the quests should be done. I just meant that in order to have your character and party where they should be level wise by the end, you need to do everything.
Playing the prologue of Immortals of Aveum and I gotta say some of those interiors look really nicely with the details and lighting, some of the faces too. This is UE5 and it really has me curious how interiors in Avowed look.
Yep I was pleasantly surprised by Immortals - it’s pretty, got cool puzzles in it and I like the magic stuff.
The characters are decent and the story is not bad - and the background world building is good, with lore entries and notes you can pick up like in a Bethesda or Obsidian RPG.
Exactly! It’s surprisingly fun. Combat feels very enjoyable, and while the framerate absolutely isn’t 100% locked at 60fps, the hiccups don’t bother me. I mean, I survived Blighttown, anything is fine then, lmfao.
Did notice some extremely visible aliasing in the prologue indoors and I believe Digital Foundry spoke on that too. But the bigger outdoor areas during and after training…very nice. I really liked how detailed the rocky ground was, I believe that’s special UE5 tech? And this is by a indie studio, right? Damn.
Imagine how Gears of War 6 is going to look, sheeeeesh!!! Avowed uses UE5 as well, right? The visual bump in the most recent footage compared to last year was very clear, but I hope they make the faces a little better too.
Nice. Still a bunch of games missing from the last series. Wonder if they’ll add stuff like Matrimelee and Double Dragon to the list other than updating what’s currently there.
Yep it’s very pretty, draw distance is great, can see so much so far away - and it’s colourful and light with vast open spaces.
Character models are incredibly good too - all the actors are really recognisable.
I find it really relaxing to go exploring areas looking for secrets, wandering around the countryside - it reminds me of Forza Horizon 5 weirdly in that way, and in looks.
No idea on Avowed but yes Gears will look amazing.
I still remember the Matrix demo for UE5, that was almost photo-realistic in places
Did some research into the whole Yasuke thing and man, the folks hating on this are just utterly ignorant. Have no idea what they are talking about and really are not keeping the same energy. Where was hate/backlash for this?
Anime of Yasuke, in fact I’m gonna put this on my to watch list.
He was a boss fight in Nioh and as we all know, the game was made by Team Ninja based in Japan. He was voiced by Richie Campbell.
Koei Tecmo’s 2021 video game Samurai Warriors 5 includes Yasuke as a playable character, voiced by Paddy Ryan.
A black samurai inspired by Yasuke, named Nagoriyuki, appears in Arc System Works’ 2021 fighting game Guilty Gear Strive.
Lionsgate was making a movie about him starring the late Chadwick Boseman.
And we can go on! Japan clearly is very ok with it, in fact they did it way before Ubi did. This situation is hilarious, but mostly just embarrassing.
