-4% YoY without ABK will do that to you.
âgreatâ for these companies is and not review scores. I loved HF:R but it bombed on every platform it released to
Does feel like their Studio Japan moment though, closing a creative studio that wins awards and the players love even if they donât sell well.
It was amongst my favourite games this generation, and Iâd be annoyed enough if it wasnât getting a sequel but to shut the studio when theyâve made so much noise about improving relationships in Japan just feels tonedeaf
What youâre saying is the complete opposite of what Xbox execs were saying about the success of the game a year ago though. They came out and dismissed the rumors that the game didnât do well enough so they either lied (which would be weird) or the game was indeed successful enough considering itâs budget.
Itâs also worth noting that itâs price at launch was at 30 euros too which if we look back at similar price points from Bethesda weâll see that this was the price range for smaller games like Death of the Outsider and The Old Blood which I assume is an indication of how much it cost.
Aaron put out a tweet to try and sell the brand/game because thatâs his job. Never trust corporate talk, itâs always couched in a way to sound definitive/reassuring without actually meaning much.
HF:Rush also took 5 full years of dev, I doubt it was that cheap.
The thing is we donât know what the plans were for Arkane Austin and Tango. We know that from the outside hifi rush was amazing but whatever they had lined up next might have been years away.
It is shit. No doubt. But we have to remember that sadly our industry is at an inflexion point and Xbox are looking at a big picture. Even if Hifi was a success, the Evil Within and Ghostwire arenât huge sellers.
Iâve got to say, I always tend to stay positive, no matter what, but closing Tango is really hard for me. I just loved all their games. I get they are restructuring and I know the market is becoming very difficult. I even expect even more studio closure across the industry , but damn⌠Tango.
If we go down that path we should doubt everything Xbox said recently too like committing to new hardware or committing to our game libraries thoughâŚalso IIRC the game was in development with a very small team inside Tango with Johanas leading for quite some time.
Anyway going by the previous similar price points of Bethesda games I believe that HFR wasnât a AAA budget game or an expensive one, they were never shy on pricing games at full price.
Yes, you should always question it from every company. The proof is in doing, not talking.
This news is going to dominate the gaming media sphere and perhaps overshadow Hellblade 2âs release less than two weeks awayâŚ
I hope Xbox have some positive annoucements soon and not just on june 9th, because right now, itâs hard to see where they are going as a brand and a platform.
Iâm pretty sure they know where they are going. After all, they have access to a ton of datas and they can see where the market is going. Still, losing these studios like that, it almost makes me say to stop acquisitions for a moment.
Yeah, I think they know but donât want to tell us yet and I donât like it.
I donât like it either, the market is stagnating, and I feel more will come, be it at Sony, MS, or other publishers.
The good news keeps flowing today:

Uh oh lol, seems completely different from what we had been hearing. Where did Jeff say that?
Changes in their strategy? Wonder what he means by that.
Whatâs âBad conditionâ? I wish theyâd stop being so vague with this shit and just come out with it.
Yeah, this sounds like him just regurgitating all the noise around Crystal Dynamics joining the project and handling the development.
