Maybe, it means that a console will be able to run in some capacity games from next generation.
They did the Back compatibility from Powerpc to AMD so either something changing and we are getting ARM architecture or just a preparation for something else otherwise why the Forward Compatibility since it would be running the same Architecture from the XONE to Series
I played some Mass Effect, Final Fantasy 14, and Diablo 4, all before noon. Perfect Saturday morning.
I wonder if Microsoft is going to leave AMD
They are either going ARM or embracing the OEM route for PC-like consoles.
In any case a good way to reassure current Xbox console users they re purchases are future-proof for now. Looks like a controlled leak, as fans (myself included) are kind of worried for the future. In any case, it is welcomed.
Any company-wide email is going public, itās practically a press release and they know it.
They will, AMD is in last place in AI, they are bad in comparison to Intel and Nvidia
I donāt know a lot about these things, but could ARM be considered good news? I mean for devs, for all of us?
100% - they had a small chance of keeping things tight when they only had a few studios but now they have over 20,000 employees thereās no chance.
I didnāt realise how far AMD had fallen behind until I looked last week. Nvidia are actually forecasted to overtake Apple within the next 5 years.
This is excellent news, that removes any doubts I had about console hardware going forward.
They talk a lot and I donāt believe anything they say anymore, but concrete things like a team dedicated to this allready set up is something else. Great news!
It means they wont be doing things that will be a real pain in the butt to do in the future. So no ālow level to the metalā coding, instead they will have apis and abstraction layers in place to run things despite potential of other software and hardware changes.
Its so 2 generations from now they wonāt require the hardware to have certain features to run the older games or require a huge team to come up with and write an entire emulator for earlier generations.
It doesnt mean anything specific for upcoming hardware, one way or the other. Its aligning to have more options available in the future.
Microsoft is designing their own AI hardware as was announced last year. It doesnt mean they cant use AMD for CPU and GPU.
Now Iām back to uncertainty. Lol
One of the biggest things I picked up from this was how subscription services are huge for Xbox now.
As it mentions in the article even you disregard GamePass they still offer subscriptions in Minecraft, Elder Scrolls, World of Warcraft and Fallout etc.
Think of it how the Xbox One didnāt add Xbox360 BC until years after release. That happened because there wasnt enough thought about Forward Compatibility.
With Forward Compatibility it means when the next-generation console releases it will play last generation games from Day One. Your digital library will stay with you forever.
And why PS has so many architectural restrictions to maintain compatibility on newer consoles and mid gen refreshes.
Ah, well that sounds good and like they plan to have more hardware.
Well now, it isnāt all childish, pathetic nonsense only, good stuff.
Until the AI bubble bursts
