Geez if this is the attitude your going to take after we posted the opinion of multiple people in the known then I wasted my time. This is not console warring, console market staganating is fact and the 3 of them are affectid by it. I dont know why that should be a controversy.
Itâs not meant to? Lol
Its practically the main why SONY and MS are shifting strategies lol
Iâm sorry. Apologies.
I just donât see how people think that Sony and Nintendo consoles are stagnating. Theyâre both on fire and especially with Sony, at a higher price point. Iâm sorry. I just donât see it.
I donât think console market is meant to grow. Itâs meant to keep whoâs already there. If they can somehow grow it, great but if they just stay consistent, that doesnât mean itâs dying either.
Game development costs are an order of magnitude more than what they were before but they are selling to the same number of people. Sounds like a problem unless we want to pay an order of magnitude more per game.
Thatâs not because of the consoles. Thatâs just because the publishers are spending too much money on garbage that is pointless and adds nothing positive to the game or the experience.
Playing Rebirth so I will use it as an example, Square Enix could have made it more linear and eliminate a lot of the filler saving money and in the process, having a better tighter game experience.
WHO is saying itâs dying?! Here, I mean? All thatâs being actually said and discussed is that the combined console base has not been growing for decades. This hasnât even been anything new to point out itâs been a general analysis if you paid attention, itâs just recently been highlighted when Sony have shown despite so much success and dominance in the model, they still struggle to make a good profit margin due to the lack of growth in the console base, and thatâs why SONY THEMSELVES literally say and discuss that and plan on how to go beyond that model⌠because itâs not growing. Come on now, man.
Isnât that what everyone keeps telling me? That the console market is dying? Thatâs why im arguing/debating. I know itâs not growing but that doesnât mean itâs dying. I donât want consoles to die as that would be horrible.
Sonyâs lack of profits is based on one thing - they spend too much money when they donât need to. Spider Man 2 was a 9/10 for me but I donât see the $320M budget in it. I would say $200M at most.
This is literally whatâs being discussed. I donât know why you mixed this with the âconsoles are dyingâ talk that I certainly donât think is whatâs being said on here.
In this case, then I fully apologize for being an asshole and arguing with people here. I just donât want the consoles to die out. Thatâs all. Nothing more and nothing less.
I really donât think thatâs what anyone here really says or anyone who in good faith is pointing it out, there would be some people saying that itâs dying, I donât doubt that they exist and they have been saying since 3 generations ago⌠again, they are not the ones who are talking about the very fact of the console user base stagnating, two very different discussions and arguments and youâre arguing against the ones who arenât really here.
I think the main issue as I see it, is that most game pass subs are console users. So if console sales nose dive next gen, so does game pass.
That is not how capitalism works
Because they are stagnating, Switch is going on to sell around ps2 level numbers which sounds great Iâm sure but is 1. still not better than something that released 20 years ago and 2. they had to combine both their handheld divisions and home console divisions together
and 100m consoles is a lot for PS, itâs still stagnation
These companies want growth, console sales arenât increasing and are at best staying the same and at worst decreasing meanwhile costs have skyrocketed
Thereâs still a big audience for console and will be for a long time to come but itâs not enough anymore
Except they donât spend too much money, they spend exactly what it costs now to make games. Sony isnât doing great, in fact the financials of the PlayStation division show just the opposite of that with profit margins getting lower and lower by the year while console sales are going down and software sales are worse than last generation, people buying less software per console and instead spending their time on f2p games.
But how does that make sense though? If you have the same user base generation after generation, your costs go up, the population goes up, but you donât sell more, how can you say thatâs normal? Especially when the total number of gamers is growing every year but is ending up playing somewhere else than on consoles. If thatâs whatâs happening, it means long term consoles will go on the decline and be replaced with something else. The fact that we are seeing a decline in sales this early in a generation is already a sign that things arenât great for console manufacturers.
Line no one wants consoles to die, but it just keeps getting worse and worse while PC and mobile is growing every year.
Apparently the PS5 pro has the same CPU as the normal PS5.
So same fps, but higher resolution. We are truly going back to graphics over frame rate. This sucks.
Of course it is. Did people really believe that they were going to stick a new cpu in there for 60 fps GTA? That would be a next gen console not a refresh.
Pro consoles still seem pointless to me this gen ( Iâm saying this as someone who would still likely buy x Xbox pro if they released it just cause) call me old fashioned but I would love to see devs push the series X to itâs limits by the end of the gen the way they did with 360 ( compare Gear 3 and Halo 4 to launch games) and console before it. We have yet to see what this machine can really even do so far.
As it should. The days of Atlus being a one console only developer are over, now that they saw those sales numbers I bet. I just hope that they bring most of their back catalog to xbox as well. Especially the Vanillaware games.
I really want to play 13 Sentinels, even itâs not even on PC.
