Debut indeed. At least they didnât half ass the game as well. I remember some folks here thought they debut their games that are barely average as a way to get out of the platform quick.
Headlanders is develope by DoubleFine and is a good game.
Maybe the rights reverse back to DF/XGS and it could return to GP ?
Ah nice, I might have to grab it on Steam before itâs delisted.
We tried to get review units but had no success.
Hopefully it will work out. If not, it is what it is.
Yeah, still have a trending negative view of it based off the Intel ARC GPU being too spotty in performance. Generally if youâre running some/any settings at different values than they optimized for, your experience may be substandard. This can also cause issues with games that have frequent updates.
From a followup video talking about Arcâs performance with Starfield:
so intel said this is a particularly challenging title for them partly because itâs a moving Target with how many updates Starfieldâs been pushing out
Attachment rate is misleading because when you sell half the consoles of your competitor and a game sells 5m for example, obviously the attach rate will be better on the console that has half the install base.
Remains to be seen how dedicated they remain as the months and years progress. It all depends on what Microsoft does in regards to the Xbox brand.
Personally, I believe that it will kill off Xbox. Just a matter of time because at the end of the day, if youâre someone that can only afford one of the two consoles and you look over the list of games both have to offer and you see one offers nearly everything while the other doesnât and barely has any exclusives left to separate it from their competitors, the vast majority of consumers are going to go with the console that has nearly everything available on it to buy and play.
Game Pass is the only thing that would separate the two brands but is it enough to entice consumers? I donât think it is because first and foremost, you see hundreds of games in a subscription and for a lot of people, it will become too much and more is less as opposed to less is more. Not only that but unless a consumer wants to play literally every or the majority of Microsoftâs first party games, they would go with PlayStation and just buy the Microsoft first party game that they want here and there.
If Microsoft releases 5 new games in a year and all 5 are on PlayStation day one or even within a year and youâre a consumer that has interest in only 1 or 2 of them, chances are youâll just wait for them to be released on PlayStation and buy them there because no reason to spend an extra $500 plus the subscription costs when you donât have to.
Agreed. Smaller third party publishers are automatically going to go with the bigger user install bases of PC, Switch and PlayStation while the bigger third party publishers will still release the big titles like a GTA VI barring an exclusivity deal of course but smaller games, they may not see it as being worth the investment.
Also, what Microsoft is doing is a similar argument with Sony in regards to PSVR 2. If your owned studios arenât developing exclusive games for your own platform, why would a third party publisher even consider doing so? Thatâs how I look at it.
Itâs stronger right now but a lot of it could be because Microsoft is funding the ports or paying for Game Pass deals. If they didnât do either, would those games still be ported to Xbox? Itâs a legitimate question especially now because if next gen consoles donât take off and really make an impact, most publishers will look at Xbox and say " no thanks". Or will tell the Xbox fan base if you want to play them, go to PC.
Itâs not even about now but years down the line. Whatâs already in development is basically set barring cancellations but future console wise, I believe thatâs where itâs all up in the air as of now.
I agree but at the same time, you donât know exactly how Microsoft is getting those other Japanese games for example. Microsoft could literally be paying for the ports and/or Game Pass deals which letâs for argument sake, say thatâs the case. If Microsoft wasnât paying for the ports, would those publisher still be developing and releasing games for Xbox? I think itâs a fair and legitimate question to ask because who knows?
My entire outlook is that Microsoft should have looked at next generation as a way to rebuild the brand of Xbox to where youâre successful out the gate because of the exclusive lineup, studios and Game Pass that you offer which in turn leads to publishers especially Japanese and smaller ones to simply port the games to your console AUTOMATICALLY as opposed to Microsoft having to fly to companies and studios trying to convince them to port them to Xbox or worse, pay for the ports so that Xbox gamers get them on their platform.
Thatâs the main difference in my eyes. Outside of exclusivity, when has Sony or Nintendo ever paid to get a port? But Microsoft because of the situation they themselves put the brand in, they could have to pay for these ports and whatnot.
Basically, Microsoft shouldnât have to go ask for ports of games. The other companies should be coming to them and saying, we want to port our games on your platform.

Maybe Nintendo thought they were dealing with emulators.

Truly Sad. Prayers for her and family. Rest in Peace.
There is a new Peter Moore interview on the future of the industry. I think he makes some good points. He also makes it clear that Nadella is probably breathing down on Philâs neck on 69-billion-dollar investment. Microsoft Will Be Debating Right Now Whether Xbox Consoles Have a Future, Says Peter Moore (ign.com)
I read some of what Moore said. He does make good points. My problem isnât with Xbox as a brand/console or with Spencer/Bond/Booty.
My problem is with Microsoft as a company and with Nadella/Hood/Stuart because they are the problem. Theyâre worried about spending $69B on ABK. Maybe Nadella and others should have thought it through before going through with the acquisition or backed out, pay the fee and move on.
But whatever, it is what it is.
I believe theyâd be going with their current path with or without ABK, perhaps with a year or two difference in timing. The industry has a sustainability problem and removing barriers to selling their sw is how they are choosing to address it (whether thatâs cloud, pc, or even other consoles).
