Sony pays a japanese publisher upfront to boost its exclusives roster, they do it since decades, the issue is that less and less publishers would do it, because it limits the potential of the game and IP. SE ans KT are the last ones.
For Nioh you have to go back to the mid 2010s or whenever that deal was signed, the circumstances were completely different. Not many Japanese games were coming to Xbox or even PC(This would have been not long after PC players had to beg for Dark Souls 1!), so having a deal with Sony to publish and market the game made sense, and Souls games were still just a āsuccessā not a āgrand successā like now. Very different circumstances⦠Regardless Nioh 1 and 2 are some of Koeiās most successful games, I think Sony marketing helped Nioh 1 off the ground pretty good.
It can be argued that in the -current- climate, they donāt need Sony anymore, but they seem to like the relationship and help with publishing, so it is what it is. Their goal with Ronin is more lofty though, they want it to be a 5 million seller (total I believe, not out of the gate), neither Nioh game has accomplished that, but this one is aiming a little more āgeneralā with an open world. Itāll get its late PC port at least.
Unlike Nioh which was still self published by Koei on console in Japan, this is published by Sony in Japan too, so the publishing deal is a little ādeeperā this time. Beyond that I donāt really care about the specifics, mind-pretzeling to make it not ācountā is weird (Not that you do this but I saw it in some other thread), because it will never come to another console.
Personally, I love Microsoftās direction and different genres that theyāre doing. Theyāve had 11 different genres with their releases this generation and thereās still more that are yet to be released. Iām getting 2D beat em ups with Towerborne, first/third person RPGās in Starfield, first person shooters in Halo, third person action adventure games in Hi Fi Rush and the upcoming Hellblade 2 and more like third person shooters in Gears of War 6 among others.
Having so many different genres and the games being so varied is great because it keeps everything āfreshā as opposed to ātiresomeā. I believe the other side wants the Sony template games which is weird because they already have that āover thereā and at least for me, I donāt want both sides doing the same shit because at that point, I wouldnāt be interested in both sides. So im loving what Microsoft has been doing and thereās so much more that they havenāt even done yet which is exciting.
In Palworld I need to capture those sheep creatures. But Iām not sure on how it works.
I have pal spheres ready, but it says I need to weaken the creature first, do I need to drain all their health or just a little? I tried hitting it a few times and then threw the sphere, but he escaped it. But when I knock them out I canāt capture them.
Sorry for sounding a bit console war-ish, but this TPS vs FPS depate is dumb, and this is only a thing because Playstation sucks right now. (It wonāt suck during the 2 weeks of FFVII Rebirth comes out and the 3 days people will have with Helldivers/Foamstars, or any other PS centric release, but any other time is a roll of the dice. But I digress.)
You should tell these people to come back with real grievances.
Not much. Walmart is ditching physical games. Best Buy is getting rid of DVDs. Disney is not releasing Physical media in Australia. After September 2024, no Xbox manufactured will have an optical drive of any kind ever again
Digital Age is here. Ironically just in time for Call of Duty to do most of its units via subscription.
That these cultists take what is a legitimate issue some people have with first person perspective or wonky cameras and use it for their latest crusade against Xbox pisses me off.
Iām one of those people (as I have posted about here on the forums many times over the years) and there is always a concern with every first person game whether it will trigger my nausea or not and if so to what extent and what remedies I have to use to be able to play.
As for Indy, Iām more worried about the transition between first- and third person and if that will be a trigger. Games nowadays usually have a lot of settings for camera and accessability though, so I hope itāll be fine.
This is just going to be another thing one canāt talk about without being accused of concern trolling isnāt it?
Thanks, yeah I will. I just wanted to say something here, because itās easy to forget that whilst making fun of cultists and their stupid takes is easy, it is a real problem for some people.
Getting rid of physical media for movies is a bad decision though as video quality, even on the best streaming services, is far from what you can achieve on a 4k Blu-ray and the reason why I will not support that one. Games at least are the same no matter what format you get it on.
