XboxEra Community Hangout |OT11| It Goes To 11!

I have never expected Sony to acquire a publisher, especially after they spent over 80% of their M&A budget and Bungie was such a clear-win from a negotiation standpoint for Bungie ($2 billion extra for staff retention… which clearly went up in smoke). I saw “reports” from analysts with almost a 0% accuracy rate for the games industry and I just chuckled; last I checked, I have been proven right far more than these morons… Bloomberg should hire me at this rate lol.

I don’t know who Kiryu is, but I couldn’t agree more.

(I think you replied to the wrong person)

About that YawnYeah stuff, yeah I agree with this. Those tweets by him about Pratt as Mario, how he did nothing to sound different. Hmm, something with pot and kettle…

Still surprised that so many people play a game like this with an English dub.

Same here. I would never ever subject my ears to such assault and that was before YawnYeah got involved too. Back when LAD came out I was curious about the English dubs, so I thought I check out the trailer. I was immediately cured of that curiosity. :joy:

Any Japanese game, anime, movie, show is a huge no no in English!

Also, we can’t only blame YawnYeah. I mean…RGG Studio, Sega…bruh?! The previous English voice actor was there since 2005 or so, isn’t that like the start of Yakuza? Why oh why.

Sometimes its easier to listen during extended cutscenes then read the subtitles, however as much as I liked the english dubbing of like a dragon I think i’m going to play through Infinite Wealth with Japanese dub, not just because of YongYea but i’m also just too used to Kiryu’s japanese VA

Yeah I don’t get it either lol.

Whenever a game has the option for a language that makes sense for the setting that’s what I play it in.

Yup, it’s immersion breaking for me. But I’ve also been watching subbed anime for like 20+ years so I guess not everyone is as used to it.

Yeah this site(or my browser) has a weird glitch where it quotes the wrong person sometimes.

We don’t dub anything here really, unless it’s for very young children, so it’s super weird to me lol.

But yes, it’s all about immersion and that authentic feel.

I doubt it’s a tease of anything, and really, shouldn’t it be singleplayer DLC then, since we would get to play as Michael?

Unless your own character changes into Michael? I’ve no idea how it works, I dislike GTAO. Either way, that’s the voice actor.

I watch/play anything in English unless it’s truly awful, I’d rather listen to a mediocre dub than something I don’t understand

“Turns out little man is a superhero.”

Haha, I like that!

I would usually say I agree, but like a dragon and judgment series had a fantastic dub. However, I usually play these games with sub, but the dub seems to be very good for those games.

My 8 year old son really likes his Call of Duty wrap that matches his controller perfectly. Obviously we’ve been playing MW3 for the last several hours. Successful gift :gift:

Case by case for me.( same with anime) If the dub is good I’ll play it that way. Though I’ve never played Yakuza dubbed, I did play the Judgement games dubbed.

People that criticize The Yakuza Like a Dragon dub are just wrong. The English dub is awesome and now they are adding Hollywood actors like Danny Trejo. I’m just going to put it bluntly, like a dragon was the best jrpg ever made, and the English voice track certainly contributed to that. Infinite wealth is a highly anticipated game, Sega isn’t going to screw up the English dub.
