At first glance you think…why? This is not a good thing. But then I read one comment on Neogaf (of all places) that this could very well be about banning those cheat controllers, or modded controllers.
Then it’s a good thing, but it sucks for the normal controllers that don’t offer these options. Or the other reason is that people otherwise don’t buy their controllers?
From what I understand pretty much all Brooks products will get banned, yet most arcade sticks are being built using those boards (except for Razer and the like) as well as adapters people are using for their older, expensive sticks. Now they won’t be able to use those anymore and that could have a huge impact on the fighting games scene on Xbox, especially considering it’s not as big as it used to be.
MS really needs to figure a better solution honestly. The part about cheating devices makes sense though. Maybe they could agree to licence their tech in exchange for the company to stop producing devices that give a clear advantage?
MS already licenses their wireless controller technology. Pretty sure the terms enforce no cheat enabling and allows for MS to terminate the lease immediately if abused for cheating.
The first thing that stood out to me was that this is a 3rd party controller that connects directly to an Xbox console without use of a dongle. It functions similarly in every major way to a first-party Xbox Series controller.
Not sure you’re shot firing but it is amazing that they had the opportunity to capitalize Skulls and Bones by releasing shortly after this game. Now, it’s just like “Oh ok…”
That’s why I said except for stuff like razer. Problem is that all boutique stick makers use third party boards, and there are A LOT of them, and they are very popular amongst fighting games fans as the casuals don’t usually buy sticks and the ones that do usually know what they want in one so it will really affect a majority of stick owners on Xbox. Sticks are also very expensive, so people tend to keep them for a long time so adapters are almost a necessity.
If Razer doesn’t make sticks for Xbox that just further proves my point that the situation needs to get fixed as if one of the biggest peripheral makers isn’t making sticks for your console anymore, there’s a problem. The Kitsune exists and several boutique vendors have hitbox style arcade controllers as they are becoming more and more prevalent in the FGC. The fact they made the Kitsune for PS5 only tells a lot imo.
The FGC is community driven, that’s what keeps it alive, and those boutique vendors are from the FGC, for the FGC. Not supporting them isn’t the kind of statement you want to make as a console maker, and is kinda counter to what they are trying to accomplish with the KI revival right now. It probably wouldn’t be hard for MS to find a happy middle ground here.
Like I said, I’m not going to get more into this whole controller thing because this is what users are finding microsoft and themselves. Haven’t even made a bog plus about this or what’s going on
For everybody getting mad this wait till an actual official response. This is all the blanket statement for people who most like are probably using it controllers in that post to again, this looks like I’m not official controllers. Most of the controllers that regular people are buying are licensed. Wait till next responses out
