In all fairness, he’s doing a great job on highlighting them for everyone that needs to know that despite them being CoD studios, the knowledge of past games proves they weren’t always CoD. Many people think they only do CoD and nothing in their portfolio has any other game. With this, it makes them wonder if giving them a chance to explore elsewhere, the deal will be dare I say much bigger deal than it already is.

Stumbled upon this:

And they wonder how it sold 300 million copies.

Yes, many studios have rich history, but ultimately they were turned into COD studios because:

  • COD has a huge playerbase that apparently always looks forward towards new content
  • developing other games brings lower return on investment

Microsoft bought ABK specifically because ABK has high profit margins. I highly doubt those studios will be taken off COD, unless either the COD metrics (revenue, engagement etc) are sharply declining with no plan to pivot that around or they can deliver other content that’s strategically important for Xbox or Microsoft, but I doubt it would be something like a new Hexen from Raven or a new Banjo from Toys for Bob.

Time will tell. Nothing we think is certain.

Everytime. People losing their jobs is never something I want to hear.

Of course, as a member of the public I have limited insight of what’s going on. But personally, Activision hasn’t done anything of interest for me in years and year and I’m not expecting that to change any time soon.

just a word of caution use a throwaway account to use the beta since if you use it with your main account you are ineligable for the free trial

Wonder if BG3 will sell more copies on Xbox than PS? That release should be coming soon since it’s before end of 2023.

Doubtful. It appears to have sold well on PS but it also seems people bounced off it hard. Probably because they got swept up in the hype and find out it is very much a hardcore PC RPG.

What does Xbox not sell as many units as PlayStation? Even with the Series S being so cheap?

Youtube recommend an old video from Max about rating the trailers for Smash and I went and rewatched some stuff about Steve

This one is so awesome, I remember watching this a while ago and I’m glad to returned to it.

I realize I’m very late to the conversation here but I do have a quick thought.

A 12 TF PlayStation Pro could be very good for the Series X and a Switch 2 could be very good for the Series X as well. Here’s why…

Right now companies don’t want to upset the vocal PlayStation bias media that is constantly looking for clickbait headlines to sink any new game that dares to have too wide of power gap.

If the series s has 30fps or 1080p clickbait headlines! Once the Switch 2 gets a worse port than Series S those headlines will go away, nintendo fans are mostly fine with low resolution and when a game has 30fps they are actually happy about that it isn’t lower

Same will be true on the flip side. If a game like cyberpunk on Xbox series x runs better than the PS5 version “the game is broken!”… ban this game and remove it from the PlayStation store! But now that a PS5 pro can keep up with a series x then companies will finally be free of the clickbait attempts to destroy thier games.

Basically games will finally push harder and spend more focus on series x while lowering thier standards on series s (sorry series s) because the switch 2 will give them cover to remove or downgrade features without all the clickbait trashing the puts extra pressure on perfect versions of PS5 regular edition and Series S games.

Brand loyalty, didn’t make huge mistakes like XB1 did last gen, more AAA/major titles released, kept momentum up, always been more popular in major territories like EU/Japan, Xbox’s are also less desirable because of the PC push/alternative platforms and aren’t locking you down to a single platform like Sony does etc

There are many reasons, a lower price doesn’t mean anything, Apple is overpriced garbage but people still lap it up every year

People need to remember that the only gen xbox did really well in was also because Sony messed up badly in many ways and even then, it still outsold Xbox in major territories, people shouldn’t be expecting Xbox to sell as well as PS, not in the short term at the very least

Games media doesn’t matter, it’s about influencer opinions. People like Penguinz0 and videogamedunkey has a much broader influence and view count compared to Gameinformer or Eurogamer.

Sure sure, just the narrative and zeitgeist in general which is lock step with what I’m talking about.

Not a chance imo. PS5 install base is almost double and hype for the game has somewhat calmed down, so sales won’t be as strong on xbox imo

Watched a bit of a Mario Wonder livestream of my friend’s and yeah, it looks great. And the new enemies and features are very nicely done. Gotta give it to Nintendo that after all these years they just keep Mario being great, both 2D and 3D games. Although I do wish Oddysey was more challenging.

Loyalty to the brand that PS has done since the beginning or rather PS4 launch, especially when Xbox One fumbled badly. Xbox Series is seen like a fresh start, so it’s a uphill battle for them. It also didn’t help with 2022 being quiet, while PS took the chance to “reboot” its campaign of launching big titles. Because the loyalty is strong, they can afford to keep people waiting for a while.

Today, Xbox’s momentum is strong and continue to get better. It’s no wonder they reboot the Power Your Dream campaign because they know they have things all lined up. You can say the generation begins here.
