It was $20 but it was not standalone.

I think Microsoft would rather continue with traditional DLC as opposed to the smaller “half-sequel” approach. DLC allows Xbox to continue to monetize their core consumers (as DLC is not included in Game Pass, so you need to purchase it), whereas a “half-sequel” would, since it is a base game, be included for free.

As a consumer I’d obviously prefer to spend less, but from Xbox’s perspective I think they’re seeing success with the “Standard Edition is free and then you can buy Premium Edition upgrades and DLC if you want” setup they have going now. I’ve personally bought the Premium Upgrades for both FH5 and Starfield even though I’m a GPU subscriber, and I don’t feel cheated or that my sub has less value because of it.

100% my feelings. Love the strategy and also getting the discounted DLC from GPU.

I’m okay with positioning standalone DLC as short half-sequels. Of course, devs would need to think of an appropriate price point, but I would probably play more DLCs if they didn’t require a purchase of the base game. Although, I understand it’s annoying that all of the sudden standalone DLCs are being called half-sequels. It’s all marketing speak.

For example, I really don’t want to play CP2077 because the setting is not that appealing to me and the game is very long, but I would be more inclined to buy PL as a standalone DLC because it is much shorter.

Also, DLC annoyingly doesn’t go on sale as often as standalone games.

All that said though, standalone DLC is much more preferable than regular DLC.

Yeah I think standalone can be a good thing in some situations, personally I have never wanted to play an expansion on its own without the base game, but I have seen some people say they would, like you with Cyberpunk PL, I think it can miss a huge chunk of important stuff that way but you do you

The thing with CP2077 for me is that I either play some of it (PL) or none of it.

Another example: I have a tough time recommending Witcher 3 to people who aren’t familiar with the franchise or WRPGs due to the required time investment, but I could easily recommend Blood and Wine to anyone if it was standalone (it kind of is I know). B&W is the best part of the game anyway and imo it gives you everything (and more) that the base game offers (unless you are familiar with the franchise already and want a conclusion to Ciri post books).

Hey Guys I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask this. I was wondering what does the green thing mean next to the 20. I saw people had the Xbox live icon in their profile but I don’t have mine.

Thanks!!

Nothing like remastering a game thats only a few years old and perfectly playable on current hardware. probably charge full price too, better at least release on PC as well.

It’s dumb but the 17G achievements are still such a turn off for me :face_vomiting:

Pretty beefy update

I don’t think the game was ever as bad as people made it out to be but I can’t pretend it also wasn’t extremely flawed even if I did have some fun with it

These are nice changes but it doesn’t really change my biggest problems with the game, those being the gameplay loop/skill tree, the story telling and the world itself

The last 2 are pretty much unfixable and the former would probably just require too much work, game would have been much more interesting if it gave you one character and let you choose between every power available instead of 4 characters with a couple of powers each

Lol, I like how they pretend to care about game devs and the health of the industry, while at the same time trying to slander(repeatedly) the work many devs have been passionately been working, which could lead to them being laid off because “public reception”. Like I get criticizing a bad game and calling out bad decisions, but what they are doing is essentially a smear campaign that you often see on elections. The media will do anything for clicks I guess like what is said above, they really don’t care for the devs or the industry, only their pockets.
