I’m missing something? What is this about
It’s about Jim Ryan stepping down next Spring, so fans think cancelling all GaaS is a great idea, no matter how far they’re in. First of all, just because he’s leaving doesn’t mean the goal will too. At best, they would lessen a few if anything. Second, cancelling it will be damaging in many ways. Factions is proven to be a problem if outright cancel it even if the project is on hold.
The discussion around the cancellations of Hyenas and TLOU 2’s Factions. Both of which has led to be people losing their jobs.
Don’t know why anyone’s first thoughts and hopes should be cancellations, I think if anything is to change at all, I’d maybe think of rescoping and reallocation of resources and developers. If Factions isn’t going along smoothly as a big platform, maybe let it be a smaller multiplayer experience and that will find an audience, it already has the IP. Stuff like that. But, what do we know anyway.
Pretty sure people will still lose job even after release. I think what Xbox team doing is smart by slowly migrating out of the current work and share or give large margin of work to outside studio, like SoD2 and F76.
I do hope they go all out and innovate with 6 but regardless, I’m definitely missing me some Gears

Nah., but…who knows.
Wonder what Jez has heard that makes him excited about it. Maybe the open world stuff but that it actually sounds good. Or something else.
Personally I’m still very wary about open world.
That’ll be 5 years since the last game, sounds doable.

Gears 6 is definitely my most anticipated Xbox game after Halo Infinite. I’m a pretty basic xbox fan. Give me gears and halo and I’m pretty happy.
Absolutely. But the one thing that has me doubting it are the reports that they were busy on a new but smaller IP and then decided not to do it. So how many of the team had been on Gears 6 all that time?

I know they said this was supposed to be an expansion to Valhalla, but they really meant it. Usually, they remove some elements that has some sign leftovers, but they didn’t bother.

After trying Forza I think I could happily spend the rest of the generation with just Starfield, Street Fighter 6 and Forza.
