I don’t necessarily need those same IP just similar design & structure. I like the mission based structure of Dishonored and the interconnected design of Prey, both are different flavors of the immersive sim design. Maybe they could even try something like Deus Ex, would be cool.

Yep. That’s true. Perhaps their take on Shadowrun in a SP setting? Or brand new IP.

Let’s hope they really go back to what they do best. But Deathloop was a big hit, a succes, at least in the reviews, not sure about sales. Not too long ago we had some job postings that the Prey team is looking for people for a new project, singleplayer it said iirc. I’m not sure about the Deathloop team.

Shit this makes sense :fire:

Ubisoft+ is such a scam even for the $1 month let alone the stupid $17 basic price. I thought they would have their BC supported old classics like EA Play does. Maybe only worth it to play their new games day one, even that way I’d question paying $17 unless a game had incredible reception.

I was actually thinking about this topic recently with Antstream Arcade’s release… It’s really too bad we’re not seeing EA’s 16 & 32-bit classics on there. The Road Rash games, Desert Strike, General Chaos, Mutant League Football and Hockey, etc. All of the stuff that wouldn’t need licensing agreements to be renegotiated.

I suppose though, they would need to be released as modern day titles with achievements & modern certification. But hey, with SEGA, Capcom, and SNK releasing collections it’s about time EA does as well.

Great results, but this game has been sold for over 2 years in early access, it essentially a lot of players returning for full release. The numbers imo should have an asterisk, as this sort of early access never happens for AAA games.

800k+ in game is 800k+ in game. That is a very strong number. Also, saying this must mean the game is so good that many came back for some more, which is a great thing. It shows the game will have legs.

Yep, it’s even more impressive to me that it can do these numbers despite being an early access game.

I didn’t say they weren’t great results, but you can’t compare it to elden ring or Hogwarts 1:1, the game has been sold for a long time, it being a great game has made people to jump back in on full release. It’s harder to sell 3 million copies and have 800k people playing the game in a weekend as opposed to multiple years. The numbers are phenomenal for crpg.

I’m quite surprised about people being suprised about the success of BG3. It was always going to be a success, the early access was great, the gameplay is perfect for PC and it was a very anticipated sequel as well. Everybody will be eating good in terms of RPG with BG3 and Starfield.

What would be huge is MS securing a Day One release of the game on Game Pass.

The level of success is what’s surprising. A ‘hard core’ CRPG with no major publisher or huge marketing push doing Cyberpunk/Elden Ring numbers is crazy.

Not really suprised on my part, PC audience are always a bit different, especially with games like this. It is gonna be intersting how it is going to be on console. Moreover, marketing nowadays is less important as it was before.

Admitted the number is high, would like to know how many are new vs returning players that bought the early access, sorry just been trained to be very pessimistic on sales / player numbers as we all know if this was Skyrim which had just released a large expansion the questions would come up from certain crowds and / or outlets.

If for instance we find out tomorrow that 90% of those 800k players are brand new purchases, then I tip my humble hat as fair play and well done Larian on the deserved success. Truly mean it. As a big RPG fan I just wish I could enjoy CRPG’s as much as others, I find them so incredibly dull for some reason and it pisses me off every time I lose interest a few hours in.

We should make a bet on how many players Starfield “early access” will have on Steam. These are scenarios I’m envisioning:

  • MOB LEVEL: On par or above Fallout 4----450K to 500K

  • Lower end: Close to BG3----between 750k and 800k

  • Mid end: Hogwarts Legacy level----850K+ or even more.

  • High level: On par or higher to Elden Ring—950K or more.

  • GOD LEVEL: On par or closer to Cyberpunk—1M+ or more.

Which one do you think it will land? I’m betting on Mid end.

I think the hype is there for it to reach God level to be honest, will really depend how much of a dent Gamepass on PC does on the steam numbers to be honest. If Gamepass really does well then I’d lean somewhere to mid end.

Uh oh. I heard on another site that PS5 exclusivity was healthy because the game gets that Sony image (or something)… Apparently the new CEO doesn’t think so?!

Meanwhile, Sony/Jim Ryan:

These MK1 trailers are so good.

Perhaps it’s time SE realises that they might just drop that exclusivity stuff and ship it to Xbox and PC as well.
