I own the DLC but not the base game, and I’m not especially eager to drop ten bucks on an upgrade to a game I probably won’t play again
What is the price supposed to be? Mine is showing as $63.99 (cdn), discounted from 79.99.
People say last Game Pass drop is whack but I am insanely pumped to play Ni No Kuni II.
Strive, NNK2 & Valheim are all new Xbox releases and Wo Long just released a few days ago and it’s only the first drop of the month
I honestly wonder what the hell people expect from this service at times, calling this a bad month is nuts
There’s a separate product called Spacer’s Choice Upgrade for $9.99 US, and if you own the base game, both DLCs, and then pay $9.99 for the upgrade, you get the new edition.
Game Pass is not supposed to count as “owning” the base game, but a couple posts on ResetEra are saying that it does anyway.
I’ll probably give it a try tonight, since I own the DLCs but not the base game, and I totally would play it again for $10. I guess if it doesn’t work I can always grab a cheap disc copy of the base game.
Its very annoying.
Digital Foundry also gets side eyes from me for this whole pseudo elitist “gaming is held back” thing and i normally defend them. We have this carnival of stupidity now for almost 3 years and not a single conrete game design thing could be mentioned from anybody.
I have The Outer Worlds on Game Pass, bought both DLCs and got the option to buy the upgrade in the shop. For whatever thats worth.
But I’m not really interested in a game where save transfer don’t work and the improvements (framerate seems more unstable than the normal version on Series X) should be free
I stopped watching DF long ago
I don’t have anything against them, I think they do good work overall but unfortunately there’s no denying that their work does nothing but create more console war fuel, whether they intend it to or not
Not to mention the differences are so small most of the time, like I don’t give a shit if a game drops 2 frames in a random 5 second segment of a game
Yeah, and I like how they test games on PC obvioulsly with their most powerful rig, like it’s somehow informative to the average consumer… Thanks, I guess…
If you look at how they started with just basic commentary of the games they were testing, it’s obvious how now they are targetting an audience of rabid fans, not enthusiasts, since the 360/PS3 era and that went into overdrive with the Xbox One/PS4 era…
It’s still interesting to see some of the differences on some platforms but it’s really dumb to compare LOD or draw distances when it differs vastly in different scenarios. I was hoping they would aknowledged that in their videos now, but I’m not sure they do.
And sorry, but I don’t need John to tell me how beautiful this water effect or shader looks… I have my own eyes for that !
Sorry, it looks like a bit of a rant…
I always thought DF was for Console war lists. I mean they just compare versions against eachother,. They are the logs people use to keep the console war fires burning
you can’t change my mind that PS5 not getting the next-gen version of psychonauts 2 was the reason why DF until today still not bothering to make any comparison/content regarding the game itself. despite it got reviewed pretty well and won a bunch of awards.
I have deep respect for DF, as I find their technical analysis really interesting, especially during the switch Port Everything moment.
But I agree they do inadvertently stoke console war by providing fuel that can be easily ripped out of context as a win for whatever bias you’re aiming for that week.
Their comments this week on the Series S rang at odds with their past comments, especially the idea that MS should splinter the gen. That’s a terrible idea and should never be countenanced. Any game that is released on Series consoles should have gameplay feature parity and if you can’t get a feature to work then cut it. What’s different between that example and a game who has a feature that ends up out of scope for the console? Can’t do coop? Then it goes. Sad as it is, technical compromises on projects happen all the time every single day.
The Series S is the right console for the time, and it opens up the console market hugely. We should celebrate it not demonise it. If a dev can’t get a game to run on it, contact MS and get their wizards on it. Christ, 120fps Modern Warfare II or 60fps Cyberpunk, or 60fps Forza Horizon tell me that it is possible to run games at power and high settings, and all it takes is time or compromises.
And it is no different to any other development cycle.
I love how developing for series s is an issue but doing games cross gen on ps4 isnt
Is The Outer Worlds Spacer’s Choice available for purchase or is it just an upgrade path? Thanks.
EDIT: Never mind. Finally found it.
Some of the posts from Horizon Forbidden West’s initial reveal still give me life. “This is the real next gen” “This is what a game can achieve when cross-gen isn’t holding it back”
Then the flood of defensive media coverage. “We changed our minds, cross-gen is good now!”
For those searching for it, it’s a DLC for the base game. It’s 9,99$/€.
I’m a nobody and I have better accuracy record than that guy!!! lmao
Playing some Hello Neighbor 2 on PC Gamepass. Not really my style but the kid loves it. His favorite streamer CKN on YouTube at the same time. #gamerdadlife
Can confirm, despite what the description says, you do not need to own the base game to use the upgrade. I own the DLC pass only, and was able to buy and play the new edition!
