Like this and “Fairgame$” are the kind of thing that make me think I’m just too old to understand what the kids are into. Save me Ken Levine, take me back to 2007.

Jim Ryan really saw this:

And responded with this:

I joked to my son saying I bet this is called FoamBois and wasn’t too far off, haha. If I’m being honest though, it doesn’t look that bad.

So there’s already an (unannounced) expansion pass for Alan Wake II if you look at the Deluxe edition.

The 2 expansions are :

  • Night Springs expansion
  • Lake House expansion

Most important news of the day :joy:

There definitely needs to be a Forza Horizon DLC too.

Don’t know about that jimbo

The general sentiment surrounding yesterday’s PlayStation Showcase is one of disappointment, but Jim Ryan is remaining positive about the show. In a press release, he says the livestream demonstrated Sony’s “unwavering commitment to offering them [the fans] the best and most varied catalog of games possible”.

His full quote reads: “Our fans expect and deserve a steady cadence of amazing content. Today’s presentation demonstrates our unwavering commitment to offering them the best and most varied catalog of games possible. It also highlights the tremendous popularity and power of the PS5 as the global development community rallies to push its advanced capabilities to the limit. We’re investing heavily in the future with innovative best-in-class hardware like PlayStation VR2 and the newly revealed Project Q, and our expansion into PC, Mobile, and Live Service gaming is transforming how and where our content can be enjoyed.”

Hasn’t he been seeing the reactions? Including from the most extreme fans.

I mean I’m glad they are trying to do something more than just the usual Third Person cinematic stuff

but you can’t have your first big showcase in nearly 2 years and have it full of third party games and CGI trailers, of course people are gonna be disappointed

Still felt cinematic from all fronts. It’s like Sony told them don’t show gameplay unless it has transition from one scene to the next with dialogues in motion. That includes some indies. Pretty games, still left wondering what kind of games is it.

Let’s hope for more Xbox games.

Edit: they don’t announce any platform for their games, but Rune Factory Project Dragon looks really good.

Yeah they had a lot of games but mostly just concept art. And yeah no platforms stated for anything.

The list was:

Loop8 Opening Video trailer (all platforms)

Fashion Dreamer (This was previously announced, Switch exclusive)

Project Magia (They didn’t really say anything about it other than that they have the Fairy Tail artist working on it)

Project Life is RPG (Again, just concept art and little details)

Story of Seasons Multiplayer game (Just concepts, but Xbox has been getting most of these)

Rune Factory Project Dragon (Had a full trailer, great visuals, looks like Monster Hunter Stories 2 which was also Marvelous, no platforms though)

Rune Factory 6 (Just a logo)

Daemon x Machina Titanic Scion (CG trailer)

I would not be surprised to see most of these be Switch exclusives, but we’ll see.

Good sign that the first one they showed had Xbox (Loop 8) which comes out in June. As Cryon says - rest of them didn’t have platforms listed.

  • Fashion Dreamer Theme is “Sharing and Playing Together” - coming in 2023

  • Project Magia Theme is “A New Frontier” - characters designed by Hiro Mashima, from Fairy Tail and EDENS ZERO. - mostly talked about characters, and focuses on the bad guy’s point of view.

  • Project Life is RPG (Theme is “Life”) didn’t really show much other than art style - both of these are Diligently Under Development!

  • Story of Seasons is about “experiences” and some very pretty skies & grass, snowmen, chickens & a cow  Take care of animals, grow crops, warm the heart with a wholesome lifestyle. Will reach more players than ever before - “A Story of Seasons that you can play with Everyone” - play together with your friends. Has fishing. No platforms listed.

  • Rune Factory (spin off from Story of Seasons) - two new titles in fantasy-life series. “East and West” Project Dragon Flying ridable dragons, magic, fighting monsters. Ended with a sleepy sheep rubbing its eyes. “Wasn’t really sure it was Rune Factory at first” - Have referred to a mysterious eastern nation before, can visit it now. Its secrets will be revealed. - big upgrade to graphics, characters have new feel to them. Unique experience from main series but with familiar aspects. Dragons will be important to the story. Pushing the boundaries in a lot of way, but keeping some. Rune Factory 6 western continent, mainline game. Both are Diligently under development.

Always working on multiple projects including many that weren’t introduced today, working to improve development process to create variety of experiences for players, greatly appreciate support as fans of Marvelous.

Grand Finale: First Studio - cool looking mech like thing - Daemon X Machina Titanic Scion

Sorry. I should have been clearer. I meant in regards to it being third person with real time action combat. I do NOT want it to be episodic.

You’re welcome.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. There is a reason to my madness!!! lmao

I wouldn’t be shocked if I somehow get more games (5, maybe 6 or 7 if I can play Helldivers 2 fully solo and if Phantom Blade Zero is NOT a souls game, lol) for me out of the PlayStation Showcase than the Xbox Games Showcase in two weeks.

With two weeks to go, my guess is that their show is pretty much finalized. They better just come with everything they’ve got. I want to be wowed. Let’s go Microsoft!!!

Redfall is an above average game. Far from being bad, horrible or the worst.

It should have definitely been called State of Play. Expectations would have been far lower. I really need to watch last year’s State of Plays to see if they were better than the Showcase yesterday. I’m going with yes, they were better. lol

For 2024, im expecting Stellar Blade (im assuming it’s been delayed to next year), Rise of the Ronin (hyped!!!) and Marvel’s Wolverine (very hyped!!!) which I do believe will be November 2024. It’s Insomniac. They’re not my favorite Sony studio for nothing!! lol

In all honesty, if I was a PS5 only owner, Starfield wouldn’t be “the game” that gets me to buy a Series X. It would take more than just that. Of course, in fairness, I have never been a Bethesda Game Studios guy so while I will play Starfield, if Game Pass didn’t exist, it would be a pass for me.

I think the combination of Starfield, Fable, Avowed, Forza, Fable and many others will be what gets PS5 owners to also buy and own an Xbox Series console. I just hope they buy the Series X.

I believe that Sony’s drought is now, this year, 2023. More hardware based than software based and with an almost 2 to 1 console marketshare in sales, they can afford to have a weak to shit year. In fact, they can have a shit year to November and let’s be honest, Spider Man 2 will make people (including myself) forget about the previous 10 months.

I do agree with the front loaded part. They were simply further ahead with their games than Microsoft was. I do believe that 2024 will be stacked. Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin and Marvel’s Wolverine is an excellent lineup. Add in Square’s Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and yeah, Sony will be just fine.

One disappointing and underwhelming showcase in all honesty, isn’t going to make much if any difference to the PlayStation brand.

Day freaking one for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Hoping it’s at the Xbox Games Showcase with a release date.

Yeah, saw this last night. Since it’s digital only, I will probably just go with the Deluxe Edition for an extra $20.

Never bullshit a bullshitter. lol Fucking Jimbo. lol

Loving the art style , even the original had a great art style to it. It will be interesting to see how the moment to moment gameplay is since many elements of Marathon made it into Halo : CE. Halo’s radar being one of them if I remember correctly.

I can’t anymore.
