Imagine if they had a 10m gameplay section for it in their showcase
Deadalic is know for great point & click adventures like Edna & Harvey, The Wispered World or the Deponia series. In the last 5 years they have tried a lot of other A-AA stuff (episodic adventures like Pillars of Earth, 3rd person narrative adventures like State of Mind or even a space sim like Journey Home) to varying success.
I fear for their future.
This really showcases (ha) how much COVID-19 fucked up development. Iām sure that there are many factors at play, but this shoe was bound to drop and itās a big one. The timing happened to work out for Sony in that they had some big projects in late phases and were able to release them at a decent clip while I think Microsoft had to deal with mo-cap issues at the height of the pandemic? I donāt really remember the first-party head-to-head for the start of this gen.
Iām just glad that not a ton of this showcase ended up being timed exclusives. Iām hoping that this increased investment in GaaS is coming from the moneyhat budget
As for exclusives, first-party or otherwise, I hate how much importance is put on that metric in this field. I can only speak for myself but nothing announced on any platform for the rest of the year in interesting to me aside from Starfield, but thereās about a million indies and big meaty games in my backlog that will keep me occupied for however long I need. Iām pleased that nothing is making me feel like I need to get a PS5 right now.
Some of these older PlayStation showcases are going to be an interesting revisit with all the downgraded graphics, false release dates, and disappointing finished projects compared to how they were presented at the time.
Itās been the āsameā for me in the sense that I have a collection of controllers still functioning perfectly, even my OG Elite V1. Call it luck I guess; Catherine has had similar experiences, except her V2 bumpers went outā¦ after 4000 hours of use (Destiny, Halo, and Diablo), which Iād consider pretty damn good, all things considered.
Yes, many people seem to forget these are essentially consumables. Not meant to last extremely long.
Wonder what the other two could be? Old or new? The classic Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster?
Stacking, Headlanders or The Cave. The latter is delisted but it appears in one of the earlier videos about Quick Resume.
Edit: this video
I think I own the majority of them, barring Headlanders.
A very funny game. Was part of Game Pass in 2019 iirc.
Jim Ryan came out and said first party should have 2 games a year. So based on that maybe they get Factions at least and MLB The Show in 2024. On top of that, they can look forward to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
Realistically, I would say the rest of the generation they get:
- Asobi: Whatever game they make, be it VR or platformer
- Bend: Their open world game
- Bluepoint: Maybe a remaster, maybe their first game.
- Firesprite: Rumored to be making a horror game
- Guerrilla: More Horizon
- Housemarque: Another one of their style of games
- Insomniac: Wolverine
- London: Their magic live service game
- Media Molecule: ?
- Naughty Dog: Based on timing, who knows if they even get a Single Player game out this generation.
- Santa Monica: Their next big game
- Haven: We saw, their heist game Fairgame$
- Firewalk: Concord PVP game
Thatās a lot of stuff, just maybe not what they are used to.
In my opinion, Playstation front loaded their launch with big cross-gen games to get early market share. I believe there will be a little drought after Spider-Man 2 just like Xbox dealt with in 2022.
Personally, I enjoy XGS games 1000 times more and thatās why itās my primary.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. COVID ravaged both companiesā upcoming slates, but Sony had a lucky break with Horizon and God of War being as far along as they were in order to be ready, while Microsoft was right in the worst of it. Now it seems like itās Sonyās turn to have the rough couple of years that MS is finally turning the corner on.
I wish Bend made a new Syphon Filter. I loved those on PS1, and the PSP games were damn good too. I definitely think it could work, damn.
But that list versus what Xbox has coming, I am leaning towards Xbox biiiiiiig time, wow.
Man it would suck not to get a new ND single-player game this gen. If it does happen, it has to be TLOU3 right? I would prefer a new IP, but they have to be committed to completing the trilogy.
Eww.
Uhā¦ this isnāt the same insider that claimed that our balls would explode right? Different guy?
Hmm, this I am not sure of to be honest.
Today I did see a funny ass comment on Twitter though. Basically someone saying he had a feeling Sony would have one more big show before Xbox starts their show.
Iām not sure what to call that but it reminds me of when I was a big Eminem fan years ago, he had just released his brand new album, or more like, leaked. It was horrible, and there were people genuinely believing the guy released a shit album on purpose, because next week the real one would arrive.
Accept the pain, I say. And accept reality.
